FREEDOM FROM FEAR

In a nation with slavery and the destruction of indigenous populations
at its foundation, we will continue to remind people that the struggle for justice upon a foundation of love is the other way. As the talking heads from the news media-entertainment industry and from the platforms of the campaigns for the U.S. presidency promote xenophobia with reckless abandon and give permission to its violent, racist public expression, we will continue to speak out. We will be seen in public spaces with messages on signs and shirts boldly opposing a frenzy of fear, hate and white supremacy that is dangerously high-pitched and constant in the United States of America. Click here to listen to some of the hundreds who came into the public square to denounce racism and stand for love.

For nearly ten years, WE WILL NOT BE SILENT has been run almost entirely by a volunteer force. In an effort to grow our reach and continue toward a sustainable future, we are now asking for donations.

You can now make a tax-deductible donation through our fiscal sponsor and ally, THE ALLIANCE FOR COMMUNITY TRAINERS. Donate online by clicking HERE or mail a check made out to THE LANGUAGE PROJECT to the address below.

You will join  WE WILL NOT BE SILENT artists and activists as we continue to gather momentum for the next decade, and tens of thousands of people worldwide who have taken part in this project. Using language as our medium, the commons as our center and the art of photography as a vehicle, we spread words, thoughts, feelings and ideas. We have captured attention and together explored the human condition and the challenges to our humanity in the times in which we live.

We are encouraged to see our work spread, to work alongside so many of you who make it possible and now to be able to announce that WE WILL NOT BE SILENT has a fiscal sponsor, THE ALLIANCE FOR COMMUNITY TRAINERS, to help us raise the necessary funds to widen our reach beyond this horizon.

We recently visited Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and spoke to art and new media students about our social practice, and accepted an invitation to present our work, joining a panel discussion on art and activism, at The Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, California.

Your support will help us manifest our creative actions
in so many ways:

- With each $25 donation, you will support WE WILL NOT BE SILENT artists and activists as we continue to gather momentum for the next decade.

- With each $50 donation, you will support the effort to distribute shirts on a sliding scale basis. We never turn anyone away. This contribution will help pay for five shirts or three hoodies for people to embody, wearing a message that matters.

- With each $100 donation, you will help produce five more 20x30 all-purpose, weather-proof signs, adding to the permanent collection One Thousand Signs For Our Times. We will complete the collection by March 20, 2016, the 10th Year Anniversary of the language project.

- With each $200 donation, you will help us produce one hundred 11x17 bold, signature black and white signs, to hand-out in the next creative, direct action that will capture public attention.

- With each $500 donation, you will help us transport our Language Project to other cities when there is a call to action, such as traveling to Ferguson last October with the UNARMED CIVILIAN IN FERGUSON effort.

- With each $1,000 donation, you will contribute to a workshop seriesoffered free of charge to students, where we explore ways they can create their own public actions by using language in their own voices to understand their own place in a long legacy of dissent and resistance in this country and throughout the world.

Every donation makes a difference.

We thank you for all your continued support of, and participation in, the
WE WILL NOT BE SILENT Language Project.

Without you, we will not be heard. Silence is not an option.

WE WILL NOT BE SILENT is an artist/activist collaborative language project that
has been in existence since 2006. Through the creative use of language embodied on shirts and emboldened on signs held up in public spaces, we respond to current social justice issues, encouraging creative, direct public-actions where many people can participate.
