A new article entitled "The Fossil Fuel Resistance", written by Bill McKibben and published in Rolling Stone magazine, is circulating widely. According to McKibben, "as the world burns a new movement to reverse climate change is emerging - angrily, loudly and right next door."

Governments say they are working toward a solution to our climate crisis but what are they doing?  While they stall and fail to act responsibly, the Arctic melts. This is the time in which we live. The question we must ask is: What will we do?

How can we reclaim our environment? Together will we divest from fossil fuels?

A powerful movement around this country and the world is spreading. People are ready for a new day. We are making the time and space so we can talk to each other in a serious way. Our lives depend on it. We should not wait for our government to oppose the interests of those profiting from the fossil-fuel industry and act in the interest of life on the planet. As McKibben states, "we know what the future holds unless we resist." We will not be silent in the face of this crisis.

WE WILL NOT BE SILENT is an artist/activist collective that has been in existence since 2006. Through the creative use of language embodied on shirts and at times emboldened on signs held up in public spaces, we respond to current social justice issues, encouraging creative, direct public-actions where many people can participate.
