Presenters will discuss how early investments on a community level can help to dismantle educational barriers created by poverty, trauma and race. They'll offer new approaches to long-standing issues, which can improve attendance, restore students' mental health and create school communities that can thrive. Lincoln's social impact model for reducing chronic absenteeism and their partnerships with school districts, parents and funders to achieve healthy school environments will be highlighted.

Strategies for Social Skills

This presentation will provide multiple strategies to help with listening and speaking in social situations. Innovative ideas on social topics will be shared, and tone of voice and body language will be discussed. Reading interest from others will be modeled and role playing activities for social situations will be given to help kids with teasing, interacting, and friendships.

Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics in Low and Middle Income World (LAMI)
Presenter:
The prevalence rate of children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders is much higher in Low and Middle Income Countries compared with Industrialized-Westernized Nations. There will be a brief presentation about this, along with a discussion of several factors associated with these elevated rates and the types of interventions, or lack thereof available for children and families in LAMI country settings. The role of culture and beliefs will also be explored.

This presentation will address CALICO's history, goals, procedures, roles of various professionals on Alameda County's Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and benefits of a MDT collaboration. The workshop will cover an overview of how sexual abuse happens, child interviewing techniques and explanation of why certain questions are asked, and an overview of the Ten Step Investigative Interview. We will also address facts about child sexual abuse including prevalence, definitions, myths, symptoms of abuse, why individuals sexually offend, relationships between offenders and victims and facts about the grooming process.
