National BSA has announced that the Unit Charter Fee for all units will increase from $20 to $40 effective January 1, 2013.  In addition, the Unit Charter Fee will now be called the Unit Liability Insurance Fee.

Please note that charter/ registration fees are transmitted to the National BSA Council and that local councils do not receive any portion of these fees for local use.  Additionally, the $40 Unit Liability Insurance Fee only covers a fraction of the actual insurance cost.  The balance of this insurance cost is paid by our local council on behalf of your unit.  Our local council covers this cost to make sure unit leaders can focus their time on running a great program.

The Transatlantic Council, BSA invites you to attend the Normandy Camporee on Omaha Beach April 25-27, 2014.  The camporee is open to any BSA member including individuals, units and council contingents.  The Camporee takes place on and around the monuments associated with D-Day.  2014 is the 70th anniversary of D-Day and plans to be the last major commemoration with World War II Veterans.

This new council event will provide our Cub Scouts with a Council Pinewood Derby Championship Race, plus the community an opportunity to participate in a pinewood derby while helping to fund the Scouting program.

Cubs Scouts:  The top place finisher in each Rank Class from the District Championship Races will be invited to participate in the Council Championship Race. This race is by invitation only.   

Community: An open race will provide business and individuals of all ages an opportunity to race.  Business sponsorships begin at $250 and the Individual Racers fee is $100.  Advanced registration is required.

The Troy Trojans are celebrating Scouting on Nov. 17 (Troy's Homecoming).  Boy Scout Troops and Cub Scout Packs are invited to attend at a reduced price of only $8 each.   As part of the Salute to Scouting, Scouts may participate with the Sound of the South in the pre-game opening and presentation of the Colors.  Advanced registration is required.
