Highlights of October 2013 Delegates Assembly
MCCPTA delegates met on October 22, held robust debates, and departed Carver having adopted the priorities that will guide our capital and operating budget advocacy as well as a revised set of standing rules to guide the work of this MCCPTA body.

Much accomplished.  Much to do in the weeks ahead, especially on school construction advocacy. We will accomplish much because we're in it together and we are PTA!

Delegates held lengthy debates, amended, and adopted three items that will guide PTA in Montgomery County this school year: the MCCPTA Operating Budget priorities resolution, the MCCPTA CIP Budget priorities resolution, and revised standing rules to govern the conduct of the Delegates Assembly.

Many thanks to all, including new delegates, who came prepared to discuss, to offer suggestions, and to represent their local PTAs and PTSAs in order to craft positions that will guide our collective voice.
MCCPTA Committees
Two MCCPTA committees introduced themselves and their work this month; to learn more about the committees featured in October, click on the links below:

MCCPTA works on a broad range of issues through our committees; each month we will feature the work of a number of these committees at our Delegates Assembly.  We bet one will be a match for your interest or the interests of members of your PT(S)A. We think you will be happily surprised and excited about all that's happening here in PTA in Montgomery County!

MCCPTA Day @ DC United
We are PTA and we were united!  Glorious day at RFK despite United's 2-1 loss to Houston.  Thanks to Membership and Engagement Committee Chair Shruti Bhatnagar for organizing the afternoon, and thanks to all who came out to share the day and some PTA spirit. Check it out HERE on our Facebook page!
Delegate Cards...and Blue Books
MCCPTA delegate cards were NOT be required to vote at the October Delegates Assembly (DA), but they will be required to vote starting with the November DA.

Delegate cards will be sent via the Pony to PTAs and PTSAs at their school starting late this month. Cards will be sent once your unit has paid MCCPTA membership dues for a minimum of 25 members. And not only will your PTA be receiving delegate cards soon, the MCCPTA Blue Book, or directory, and a newly revised "Timeline for PTA Leaders" will be sent together with your delegate cards once dues have been received.
MCCPTA Presents!
October's MCCPTA Presents program,  Cheers, was a lively discussion about the importance of parent involvement in school, tips for volunteering, advice for parents, the role PTA plays in our schools, and other topics to assist parents navigate the school years.

Our program featured Joseph Monte, Retired MCPS Guidance Counselor, who served for fifty (50) years at Einstein High School; Kristin Trible, President, Damascus High School PTSA and Immediate Past President of MCCPTA; and Larry Edmonds, Area Vice President, President, Paint Branch High School PTSA, and co-chair of the MCCPTA Legislative Committee.

This MCCPTA Presents! program will be rebroadcast on MCPS TV Comcast Cable channel 34, Verizon FiOS channel 36, and RCN channel 89 Saturday and Sunday November 2  and 3 at 10pm; tune in or TiVo!
