Spring Break is almost here, and our usual Delegates Assembly (DA) night falls right in the middle of it! So please note that this month we have moved the DA to a Thursday, March 21, starting at 7:30 PM. We also will be in the Carver Cafeteria this month.

Featured Business
This month's meeting will feature updates on the MCCPTA One Voice school budget advocacy campaign--including distributing additional postcards to take back to your schools for members to sign--our membership challenge, programs, and the announcement of the MCCPTA slate for 2013-2014 by our nominating committee.
In addition, we will discuss the resolution on Advocacy to Reduce Gun Violence introduced last month by the Takoma Park Elementary School PTA; delegates were asked to bring this resolution back to their local PTAs for consideration. This month a resolution on elementary school report cards will be introduce; debate and discussion of that resolution will take place at the April DA. |
Budget Advocacy Postcard Campaign Delegates at our February meeting were asked to bring a bundle of MCCPTA postcards back to their school(s). Cards also have been distributed to PTAs unable to attend last month's meeting.
PT(S)As are asked to find opportunities--PTA meetings, PTA events, school events, athletics events, music assemblies--in March and early April to have parents and staff sign these pre-printed cards. The postcards are to be collected and returned--at the March Delegates Assembly or via PONY mail to the MCCPTA office. We will present all the postcards collected to the County Council at the budget hearings in early April.
More information--including instruction sheets for completing the postcards in six languages--is posted at our MCCPTA website. We urge you to get your school community involved! |

Membership Challenge
MCCPTA challenges all local PTAs and PTSAs to work like mad in March to grow membership at least to the level they reached last school year. Not only does membership strengthen your school and engage your parents, it can win your PT(S)A cash and/or gift cards.
What could your PT(S)A win? National PTA has a Buidling Today's PTA Contest with cash incentives for local units. Maryland PTA is awarding $250 to additional units who report at least 50 members by March 31; Rocky Hill MS won one of these checks in the round that ended December 31. And thanks to the generous support of Silver Diner, MCCPTA has $250 in Silver Diner gift cards to award! CLICK HERE for MCCPTA contest rules and details.
