Our November MCCPTA Delegates Assembly (DA) will be held Tuesday, November 27, starting at 7:30 PM in the Carver Auditorium, 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville. We will be considering a Legislative Platform to guide advocacy in Annapolis, and reviewing our Capital Improvements Program (CIP) advocacy efforts. Delegate cards--required starting at this meeting to cast a vote per the Standing Rules adopted in September--will be available for pick up in Room 127 starting at 6 PM.
At 6:30 PM, immediately before the DA at Carver, MCCPTA Presents will feature Superintendent Joshua Starr speaking on Social-Emotional Learning. Dr. Starr will take questions on this topic following his presentation. Please spread the word about this program to your local PT(S)A members and school community. All are welcome to attend.
MCCPTA also will be conducting a Food Drive for Manna this evening; please bring a few cans, jars, or boxes of non-perishable food to help our neighbors in Montgomery County. Happy Thanksgiving! President Montgomery County Council of PTAs

Featured Business
Two items highlight our planned agenda this month. Delegates will debate and determine the legislative platform that will guide our advocacy in Annapolis this year. You may review the draft MCCPTA Legislative Platform soon HERE. We also will discuss our CIP advocacy efforts, including looking ahead to our upcoming testimonies before the County Council in 2013.
In addition, PTA nuts and bolts, like Standards of Affiliation Requirements and the status of our membership efforts, will be covered.
Please remember that DELEGATE CARDS will be required to vote starting at this DA and for all DAs for the remainder of the year. Cards will be available in Room 127, 6pm - 8pm; cards can be picked up only by individual delegates. Delegates MUST show their 2012-2013 PTA membership card to collect their Delegate card.

Student Involvement Committee Leading November Food Drive
If you have any extra cans, jars, or boxes of non-perishable food in your pantry, please be sure to bring them the evening of our November Delegates Assembly . The MCCPTA Student Involvement Committee is working with the Richard Montgomery High School SGA to collect canned food and deliver it to the Manna Food Center.
Our MCCPTA Student Service Learning (SSL) Subcommittee also will be on hand with an information table to answer questions on the State of Maryland SSL graduation requirement and opportunities.
Show your PT(S)A spirit by helping to fight hunger in Montgomery County! Thanks!

Technology Initiative Approved
On Tuesday, November 13, the County Council voted to approve supplemental funding this year for the technology initiative proposed by Superintendent Starr and the Board of Education. With this approval, MCPS will shortly begin to outfit all schools with wireless networks and complete the installation of Prometheans in all elementary school classrooms; these installations should be complete by the start of the next school year. This initiative will go far to create an equitable, consistent base of technology across our school system.
Thank you to all who made their voices heard. The efforts of local PTA leaders without a doubt played a critical role in winning support for this initiative.
