New MCCPTA Website LIVE!
MCCPTA is proud to announce the launch of our new web presence at www.mccpta.org. This site, designed and built by our MCCPTA volunteer Webmaster Doni Stassel, is a user-friendly resource for local PTAs and their and members, county PTA leaders, and all in our community who are interested in the work, activities, and scope of the Montgomery County Council of PTAs. Our original website remains "live" and will continue to serve as an archive of previous MCCPTA position and activities.

MCCPTA is co-sponsoring with Safe Silver Spring a School Board Candidates Forum on Public Safety, Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 7 PM at Long Branch Community Center, 2nd floor Social Hall, 8700 Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring.

Next MCCPTA Presents:
Building Successful School Partnerships
Our next MCCPTA Presents program will take place on (CORRECTED DATE) Tuesday, October 23, 6:30-7:30 PM at the Carver Educational Services Center in Rockville. The program, Building Successful School Partnerships, will feature a panel of educators, including an MCPS teacher, principal, director of school performance, and community superintendent. These MCPS leaders will discuss how parents and PT(S)As can engage on behalf of student achievement.
And if you missed our first MCCPTA Presents: Maryland Education Changes and Reforms featuring Mary Gable, Assistant State Superintendent, Maryland State Department of Education and our own Deputy Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Statham and Associate Superintendent Dr. Erick Lang, that program is being rebroadcast on MCPS TV Comcast channel 34, Verizon channel 36, and RCN channel 89 at 11 AM and 8 PM on Saturdays and Sundays October 6, 7, 13 and 14.

Curriculum Information Night with MCPS Educators:
English/Language Arts (K-12)
MCCPTA will be hosting a Curriculum Information Night on Thursday, October 18 from 7-8:30 PM in the Cafeteria at the Carver Educational Services Center in Rockville with educators from MCPS who have developed and are overseeing the curriculum. This first evening will be focused on the English/ Language Arts curriculum; we hope to hold future information nights on Math, Science, and the Arts during this school year if there is ample parent interest.

October Delegates Assembly
The next MCCPTA Delegates Assembly (DA) will be held on Tuesday, October 23, starting at 7:30 PM in the Auditorium of the Carver Educational Services Center. This month's agenda will feature debate and action on MCCPTA's budget priorities for the 2012-2013 school year. Draft resolutions for our MCCPTA positions on the Capital Improvements Program budget and the Operating Budget may be found by CLICKING HERE.
