A WELCOME FROM THE PROVOST
Dear Colleagues,

Welcome back to Pacific and to the 2016-17 academic year! As I write this, our groundskeepers are putting the final touch on our beautiful campus, new and returning students are moving in, and I've had the opportunity to greet our new faculty at their orientation. Although there is a hint of fall in the morning air, the afternoon heat lets us know that summer is still with us.

I hope that you found time this summer to reflect and reenergize. For those who taught or were involved in research or creative endeavors, I hope that you were productive yet found time for personal pursuits as well. The academic administration continued to work on its initiatives to support faculty and students, and I look forward to reporting our progress in the next academic division newsletter in September.

Some of the activities we can look forward to this academic year include:
  • Implementing the strategies in the Strategic Enrollment Plan, including working with Shorelight Education to recruit international students
  • Continuing our work on Academic Plan initiatives
  • Refreshing Pacific 2020
  • Continuing our work on the COACHE Faculty Climate Survey results, including the development of a faculty compensation plan
  • Preparing for our upcoming WSCUC (WASC) reaccreditation cycle
I'll share more on these topics in our upcoming newsletters, starting in September. In the meantime, I wish you a great start to the year and thank you for your commitment to making Pacific a place where our students can live, learn and lead with purpose.

Warm wishes,

Maria
