PACIFIC GRADUATES TOP EARNINGS REPORTS
University of the Pacific provides better student outcomes than USC or UCLA, according to two new rankings from The Economist and The Brookings Institution. Both rankings use data from the first-ever White House College Scorecard to assess universities' strengths in preparing students for economically prosperous lives. The Economist ranked Pacific No. 12 nationally, ahead of Yale and NYU. The Brookings Institution gave Pacific a score of 98 out of 100, in a tie with MIT and 15 other institutions ... Learn More

STUDENT SUCCESS INITIATIVE UPDATE: EARLY IDENTIFICATION
Last spring, Pacific demonstrated its ongoing commitment to support our students by approving a Strategic Investment Fund (SIF) proposal for the Student Success Initiative. A foundational component of the Student Success Initiative is an automated early identification system to help at-risk students stay on track in their courses and programs of study. The Student Success Committee, established by President Eibeck in Fall 2014, reviews outcomes for student success.

COACHE FACULTY CLIMATE SURVEY UPDATE
The Provost will hold her last Faculty Climate Survey Unit Conversation next Monday, November 23, on the San Francisco campus. The deadline for online comment submission has been extended to November 25 as a result of this rescheduled Conversation. All comments will be de-identified, summarized and shared with the community December 1, 2015.

SEARCH UPDATE: NEW UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN APPOINTED
Following a nationwide search, Provost Pallavicini is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mary M. Somerville as Pacific's new University Librarian, effective January 1, 2016.
 
Dr. Somerville joins the University from the University of Colorado Denver, where she has served since 2008 as University Librarian and Professor, and as Director of the Auraria Library, which serves more than 53,000 students at three schools on one urban campus ... More

PROFESSOR GERHARD TO HOLD BOOK SIGNING THIS SATURDAY IN STOCKTON
Gesine Gerhard, Professor of History, and Associate Dean and Director of Education at the College of the Pacific, has authored a new book, "Nazi Hunger Politics: A History of Food in the Third Reich." The book looks at the central role food played for the Nazi regime, and how food policy became genocidal during the murderous invasion of the Soviet Union. Professor Gerhard will be discussing her book at a book signing this Saturday, November 21, at 1:00 p.m. in Stockton.
