DUGONI SENDS TEAM ON DENTAL MISSION TO JAMAICA
Nearly 50 student, faculty, and other volunteers from the Dugoni School of Dentistry traveled to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, during the School's fall break for an oral health mission. The group helped treat 1,163 underserved people in the community during visits to several rural health clinics. The trip is a collaboration with Great Shape, Inc!, an NGO that does work in Jamaica, including several free dental clinics.
Dugoni students and faculty staff the clinics for one week every fall. The students organize and plan the trip and provide the dental treatment under direct supervision of Dugoni faculty. All of the volunteers pay their own expenses (except for lodging and dental supplies, which are sponsored). This is just one example of the many ways Dugoni students and faculty are committed to improving oral healthcare in the community.

SCHOOL AND DEPARTMENT ANNIVERSARIES: PHARMACY AND HEALTH SCIENCES AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The faculty, staff, students and alumni of the School of Pharmacy and the Department of Mechanical Engineering had even more reason to celebrate during Pacific's Homecoming weekend: 60- and 30-year anniversaries of these two units, respectively.
School of Pharmacy: 60 Years
On Saturday, October 17, President Eibeck, Dean Oppenheimer and Associate Dean DeGuire welcomed dozens of alumni back to campus for a reception and brief program followed by a campus tour and breakout sessions that included visiting the Barker Lab, Mobile Medicare Part D clinic (where Pharmacy alumni both provided and received services), and the Pharmacy museum and history display. The museum proved to be quite popular with the alumni, who enjoyed viewing the collection of yearbooks dating back to 1977 and reminiscing about how they used the lab artifacts on display.
Department of Mechanical Engineering: 30 Years The Department of Engineering kicked off Homecoming Weekend with its annual student and alumni BBQ on Thursday, October 16. This was followed by the Mechanical Engineering 30th anniversary dinner on Friday night, which was attended by President Eibeck, Dean Howell, Chair Lee, department faculty, emeriti, and alumni and students ranging from the first class of 1985 to current students. The celebration continued on Saturday with a presentation by Chair Lee on the latest in mechanical engineering, followed by a tour of the engineering school facilities and labs.
