PROPOSITION 123
Charter Schools Support Proposition 123
(Special Election Day:  May 17)

Arizona Charter Schools Association's members overwhelmingly voted to donate $10,000 to support Proposition 123 on behalf of Arizona's charter schools and students.

"Proposition 123 settles a past due bill and provides much needed stability to K-12 education funding. Our membership vote shows that Arizona's charter schools support Proposition 123, and see it as a bridge to school finance reform focused on the students, not the systems."

- Eileen B. Sigmund, Arizona Charter Schools Association President and CEO

The K-12 funding measure would infuse $3.5 billion in additional public student funding for the next 10 years if approved by voters on May 17. It's estimated that schools could get an additional $200 per student this fiscal year (FY16) if approved by voters.

Proposition 123 is the result of an agreement between legislative leaders and education groups to settle a long-running lawsuit over K-12 funding. Schools sued the state in 2010, charging that lawmakers had ignored a 2000 voter-approved mandate to boost state aid to schools annually to account for inflation. The state Supreme Court agreed.

When settlement talks stalled, Gov. Doug Ducey helped craft a plan to resolve the lawsuit, largely with money from the State Land Trust. The state legislature approved the plan during a special session held in October, and called a special election for May 17, 2016 so voters can make the final decision.

ATTENTION BASIS CLASS OF 2017 STUDENTS!
Commemorative Brick Fundraiser
Dear Class of 2017 Students,

Since we are the first class to graduate from the new building, I thought it would be meaningful if we, as a class, make a donation to the new BASIS school. Currently, we are running a campaign to collect $1000, and in return for our donation BASIS will put a brick in the new school that will read "Class of 2017." Ideally, we would have each student donate $15 - $20 to meet our goal, and so far we have collected $530. If we fail to reach our goal, I promise to return everybody's money, and students can pay either in cash (which they can give to me at school), or online at www.gofundme.com/brick2017. So far, we have had 27 students participate (about a third of the class), and we could really use your support for this project. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you,
Mimi Goldberg
T-SHIRT QUESTIONS

BOXES, PACKING TAPE & NEWSPAPER NEEDED
START DONATING NOW FOR OUR BIG MOVE!
BASIS Families, the school needs us to donate boxes, packaging tape, and/or newspaper so teachers can start packing for our big move to the new building. These supplies can be brought directly to the school so we can store them until teachers need them.  If bringing boxes, please break them down so they are easy to store.  Thank you!
SUPPLIES NEEDED
HELP PREVENT YOUR STUDENT FROM GETTING COLDS OR FLU BY DONATING SUPPLIES:
The school is in need of supplies! We are grateful for all the donations so far this year, but as you know we're in the middle of cold and flu season. Thus we could use your help stocking the school with supplies such as Kleenex, disinfecting wipes, paper towels and hand sanitizer. (We use the disinfecting wipes to clean door knobs, tables, and light switches to minimize illness). Below are a few Amazon links for the needed supplies. If it's more convenient for you, have them delivered directly to the school at: BASIS Scottsdale 11440 N. 136th St. Scottsdale, AZ 85259
We appreciate your help!
