BOOSTERS 2016-17 EXECUTIVE BOARD ELECTION
|
MEETING: APRIL 1, 8:45 am, Lower School Cafeteria
Opening Remarks by Head of School Elizabeth McConaghy
As the school year winds down, the Boosters is preparing to hold its annual elections for the 2016-17 Boosters Executive Board. All of the 2015-16 Board members are running for re-election. Should they be elected, their goal is to provide continuity as we move to our new location at 128th Street and Shea. However, if you wish to run for a Board position, you are welcome to do so. Requirements are that you must have a child currently attending BASIS Scottsdale 5-12 and you must be a current volunteer of BASIS Scottsdale Boosters. The general membership/election meeting will be held on Friday, April 1st at 8:45 a.m. in the Lower School Cafeteria. Board positions include President, Vice President (Social), Vice President (Communication), Secretary and Treasurer.
We also depend upon our dedicated volunteers to serve as committee chairs. If you would like to chair a committee, please email us (below).
If you would like more information about serving on the executive board or as a committee chair and what the position entails, please send an email to info@basisscottsdaleboosters.org.

BOXES, PACKING TAPE & NEWSPAPER NEEDED
|
START DONATING NOW FOR OUR BIG MOVE!
BASIS Families, the school needs us to donate boxes, packaging tape, and/or newspaper so teachers can start packing for our big move to the new building. These supplies can be brought directly to the school so we can store them until teachers need them. If bringing boxes, please break them down so they are easy to store. Thank you!

BASIS STUDENT REQUESTING BABY/BOARD BOOKS FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT
|
From BASIS Scottsdale senior Claire Conway: For the last couple of months I have been working on my Girl Scouts Gold Award project - an independent community service project that makes a lasting impact on those it aims to benefit. With my project, I hope to increase early literacy rates among local underprivileged children, preparing them for success once they reach school. To accomplish this goal, I'm writing a simple learn-to-read curriculum that I'll explain to parents of those children at several seminars I host this spring for a local nonprofit organization called Maggie's Place. Each parent will leave this seminar with a book pack containing all the information they need to teach their children to read and inspire an interest in learning, along with a couple of early reader books they can practice with. Here's where I need your help. If you already have any baby books or board books that you're willing to donate, I would be very glad to receive them. If you don't have any books but are still interested in helping me out, I have compiled a Wish List on Amazon.com (https://amzn.com/w/1M0WLXVF2TQVX) where you can purchase as many books as you would like and have them shipped directly to me. Any extra books that I may collect will become part of a standing library at Maggie's place that all of the parents and kids can access later on. Donations may be dropped off at the front office. Thank you so much for all your help and consideration!

HELP PREVENT YOUR STUDENT FROM GETTING COLDS OR FLU BY DONATING SUPPLIES:
The school is in need of supplies! We are grateful for all the donations so far this year, but as you know we're in the middle of cold and flu season. Thus we could use your help stocking the school with supplies such as Kleenex, disinfecting wipes, paper towels and hand sanitizer. (We use the disinfecting wipes to clean door knobs, tables, and light switches to minimize illness). Below are a few Amazon links for the needed supplies. If it's more convenient for you, have them delivered directly to the school at: BASIS Scottsdale 11440 N. 136th St. Scottsdale, AZ 85259 We appreciate your help!
