(Abandonment of Easement)
City Council Hearing 3939 N. Drinkwater (Scottsdale Civic Center)
At yesterday's Design Review Board meeting, after 4 hours of presentations and public comment, the Board voted down the motion (2-4) to accept our site plan due to lingering safety concerns. Although BASIS and the City traffic engineers agree that BASIS has over-delivered on the safety issues, the opposition is so strong among the neighbors that the Board seemed to be more confused than ever. Although BASIS has a legal right to build on the site, we do need Scottsdale City Council approval on easement abandonment on Tuesday in order to proceed within our timeline. We need you to come out to show your support and demonstrate that this is a priority.

For all our hikes, contact lorinoss@gmail.com for more details or directions. Please note, we've moved around the dates of some of our upcoming hikes.Next Week:February 9 -Sunrise from 124th Street. Meet at trailhead at 8:30 am.
Easy to Moderate with some elevation gain. Starting from the Lost Dog Trailhead, we'll hike up and onto the Sunrise Trail and back, turning around at the 2-3 mile mark. 4 to 6 miles in duration.
February 11 - Black Mountain. Meet at BASIS to carpool at 7:30 am or at the trailhead at 8:10 am.
Challenging, rocky and steep. Here's some of the happy crew that hiked to the top of Black Summit last year -don't miss out on this exciting climb!

The school is in need of supplies! We are grateful for all the donations from the beginning of the year, but as you know we're in the middle of cold and flu season. Thus we could use your help stocking the school with supplies such as Kleenex, disinfecting wipes, paper towels and hand sanitizer. (We use the disinfecting wipes to clean door knobs, tables, and light switches to minimize illness). Below are a few Amazon links for the needed supplies. The BASIS Boosters Lunch Team invites BASIS Scottsdale families to order lunches at https://basisschools.orderlunches.com/Please note that if you have an Orderlunches account, but are not a Boosters member, you will receive regular pricing on orders. Boosters members should verify that they are receiving reduced pricing by going to the Wednesday menu; there you should see that no entrée is priced higher than $5.50. If you are a member and do not see the discounted price, please send an email to gotlunch.basisboosters@gmail.com with your name, the name(s) of your student(s), and their grade. Full menus, with descriptions of items, can be viewed by clicking on each day of the Orderlunches calendar. Remember to have your student show school pride by wearing a BASIS shirt on Fridays for "Spirit Friday." On some Fridays, Boosters provides a special treat for students wearing any BASIS t-shirt. The student must wear any BASIS shirt to receive a treat.
