VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The annual Fall Carnival is coming up on November 21st (info below).  We need volunteers to help make it a success.  If you would like to volunteer,

VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT 
 We're excited to announce that the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) will be running a volleyball tournament for 7th - 12th grade in conjunction with the Fall Carnival.  The tournament will be played on the sand volleyball courts. Games will start at 1:30pm. Sign up to play outside Room 5 (Ms. Willis' room) before November 18.  Or come to the event and cheer on your BASIS teachers and fellow students as they bump, set and SPIKE!

The Upper School morning and afternoon Drama electives are thrilled to present an evening of two contrasting one-act plays, Dracula Diverted and Macbeth.  There will be a 15 minute intermission between plays. 

DRACULA DIVERTED
"A classic never dies."
The morning elective arose around 5:30 each school morning to create a dark musical comedy based on Bram Stoker's villainous vampire, Count Dracula.  The class wanted to explore how Count Dracula would view contemporary values.  What would he embrace?  What would he regret?  Most importantly, would we even care about a blood thirsty vampire trying to achieve the American dream?

MACBETH by William Shakespeare
"Something wicked this way comes!"
The afternoon Upper School Drama class continues to be devoted to dark and haunting stories.  They selected Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth for the complex characters, incredible visuals, and supernatural elements.  Macbeth is the intense tale of crooked power in a kingdom dominated by ambition and equality.  Some material may not be suited for children under 13.

NEXT WEEK
November 10 - Pinnacle Peak, 8:20 am: Meet to carpool or 9:00 am: Meet at Trailhead.
This is a moderate 4-mile hike up and down two hills and back again. Each one is a 600 ft. climb.

November 12 - Saguaro Lake, 7:30 am: A moderate, 5.5 mile hike around beautiful Saguaro Lake.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES NEEDED
Our school is in desperate need of supplies! Although many donations came in at the beginning of the year, you would be amazed by how quickly we go through them. (We use the disinfecting wipes to clean door knobs and light switches to minimize illness.)  Please drop items off at the front desk.
 
The following items are very much appreciated:

Disinfecting wipes
Rolls of paper towels
Hand sanitizer
Plastic forks and spoons

Remember to have your student show school pride by wearing a BASIS shirt on Fridays for "Spirit Friday."   On some Fridays, Boosters provides a special treat for students wearing any BASIS t-shirt.  The student must wear any BASIS shirt to receive a treat.
