DRACULA DIVERTED & MACBETH

The Upper School morning and afternoon Drama electives are thrilled to present an evening of two contrasting one-act plays, Dracula Diverted and Macbeth.  There will be a 15 minute intermission between plays. 

DRACULA DIVERTED
"A classic never dies."
The morning elective arose around 5:30 each school morning to create a dark musical comedy based on Bram Stoker's villainous vampire, Count Dracula.  The class wanted to explore how Count Dracula would view contemporary values.  What would he embrace?  What would he regret?  Most importantly, would we even care about a blood thirsty vampire trying to achieve the American dream?

MACBETH by William Shakespeare
"Something wicked this way comes!"
The afternoon Upper School Drama class continues to be devoted to dark and haunting stories.  They selected Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth for the complex characters, incredible visuals, and supernatural elements.  Macbeth is the intense tale of crooked power in a kingdom dominated by ambition and equality.  Some material may not be suited for children under 13.

We have a very easy hike for beginners on Tuesday and a challenging 10-mile hike on Thursday - something for everyone!!



NEXT WEEK
November 3, 8:30 am: Meet to carpool - Scenic Trail, McDowell Mountain Park
This is an easy 3-mile loop - very scenic. Dogs on a leash are welcome. Bring your cameras for wildlife photos!
November 5, 7:30 am: Tom's Thumb trail to Gateway - one way, 10 miles!
This is a challenging, 10-mile, one-way hike with steep inclines. The hike may last 5 hours. We're meeting at the Gateway Trailhead and carpooling over to Tom's Thumb, where we will start our hike up and over the mountain. Then, we'll follow the trail back to our cars at the Gateway trailhead. This is a lovely hike and so close to home! Bring 2-3 liters of water, a sack lunch, sun protection, and proper hiking boots.

Our school is in desperate need of supplies! Although many donations came in at the beginning of the year, you would be amazed by how quickly we go through them. (We use the disinfecting wipes to clean door knobs and light switches to minimize illness.)  Please drop items off at the front desk.
