TEACHER APPRECIATION LUNCHES

Volunteers Needed to Contribute Entrees For
The Upcoming November 7th Lunch
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
To show our appreciation to our wonderful BASIS teachers, the Boosters has a monthly lunch for teachers and staff, complete with beverages and dessert. It's a feast that they enjoy and, most importantly, that makes them feel loved. The teachers really look forward to their monthly lunches and your creativity in the kitchen! We are looking for volunteers to bring food and drinks to any or all of the teacher lunches currently scheduled. If you would like to contribute your culinary talents, please sign up by clicking the link below. We will serve our next Teacher Appreciation Lunch on Friday, November 7th. We need a few more volunteers to provide an entree. The theme of the November luncheon is "Pasta Bar," and you can bring anything that fits this theme. Thank you in advance for your help! CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP. If you have questions, please contact Kim Frankel (kfrankel2@cox.net) or Julie Fishbach (fishbach@cox.net).

For Whom the Pen Beckons...
BASIS Scottsdale Literary Magazine Wants YOU! Submission deadline extended to November 8th!
BASIS Scottsdale's literary magazine, brought to you by Mrs. Haag and Mrs. Mullowney, is now accepting submissions for their first trimester's issue, and they want YOUR student's work featured in it! There will be an upper school magazine, "Through the Writer's Pen," and a lower school magazine, "Writers in Wonderland." All you have to do is email submissions (no longer than 1000 words) by November 8th to
ttwpmagazine@gmail.com. They will be accepting all kinds of writing (including persuasive pieces, poetry, and fiction). The submission must include the student's name and grade. If requested, the submitted piece will be published anonymously, but the student's grade is required. Submissions must be school appropriate and may be edited before publishing. One full-length piece will be featured in every issue. Excerpts from other lengthy submissions will be published. The full-length pieces will be featured on the literary magazine's website. Contact Mrs. Haag or Mrs. Mullowney for more information.

UPPER SCHOOL DRAMA PRESENTS
THE CRUCIBLE
by Arthur Miller
|
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH
7:00-10:00 pm
PLAYHOUSE ON THE PARK
(1850 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85004)
$10 tickets available on SMART for Charter
The Upper School Drama class tackles Arthur Miller's 1953 drama,
The Crucible. Born from the Red Scare, Miller's play takes the leading players from the 1692 Salem witch trials and fictionalizes their motivations for such terror. Miller suggests that young Abigail Williams led a wicked plot to unravel the married farmer, John Proctor, who spurned her heart. This community is torn apart by lies, persecution, and sheer malice. Miller's play brings the school community the tried and true message: Stand up for what you believe in, even when the whole world is at your back.
Mature Language and Material. Parental Discretion Advised.

As we approach cold and flu season, we would like to help our school stock up on kleenex and Lysol wipes. We are asking our families to donate these items by dropping them off in the school lobby. Thank you! |
