Welcome to the year end issue of Key Notes - Marketing Keys' monthly newsletter. Hope you have a safe, happy and healthy holiday season as we prepare to ring in the New Year!  This month we are shining the holiday light on the companies whom we share ideas - our valued clients.

Hooters -
'Fantasy' Football Match-ups

Hooters had a lot to celebrate this year! At the start of 2015, the long anticipated opening of the new Hooters spectacular store in midtown Manhattan happened on January 16th. The flagship two-story restaurant - just steps away from Madison Square Garden - features 7,000 square feet of space, 240 seats and boasts 60 high definition televisions including a prominent 40-foot TV Wall. Later in the year, Hooters of Orland Park brought in Chicago radio icon, Steve Dahl, to host the Hooters Calendar Signing that evening. It was Steve's first public appearance in years and there was much anticipation. During that appearance, restaurant table wait times were over an hour long and many came to Orland Park specifically to meet and greet Steve Dahl. Last but not least, Fox Kickoff Sunday host Lou Canellis invited Hooter Girls Robyn and Cynthia on to the set for a special Bears pre-game live broadcast. All in all, a very busy and successful year.

ALA:
May the "Lung" Force Be With you!

After a 10 year relationship with the ALA handling the Illinois Tobacco Quitline and the Vehicle Donation program for them on WLS-A, our President, Roger Keys, began handling all their media and creative for the ALA of the Upper Midwest in 2009. The relationship expanded in 2015 with Marketing Keys helping the ALA on a nationwide level. Every 2.5 minutes, someone in the United States is diagnosed with lung cancer. Incredible, isn't it? That means after reading this monthly newsletter 1-2 individuals may be undergoing a major life change. Many people also don't realize how prevalent lung cancer is with women. Lung Force unites women and their loved ones across the country to stand together against lung cancer. In May, the American Lung Association partnered up with CVS stores across the country for a special campaign. At the checkout register, customers were asked to donate a small dollar amount on top of their purchase to Lung Force Awareness. A small donation went a long way towards research with the intent of finding better methods of detection, treatment and cures for all lung diseases. Shortly after the CVS event, the American Lung Association announced that they will fund more than $6.49 million in research grants for 2015-16. According to the ALA, this research will achieve their mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
The Newberry -
"Book" 2015 a success

The Newberry Library is an independent research library, specializing in the humanities and located in Chicago's Gold Coast. It has been free and open to the public since 1887. 2015 was filled with many successful events including  many Conversations featuring prominent Guest Lecturers and Adult Education Seminars. One of the big successes this year came in late July with the annual Newberry Book Fair and Bughouse Square Debates. 2015 was one of the most well attended and profitable Book Fairs of all time. As The Newberry had mentioned to us, "You have guided us from advertising campaigns dominated by traditional media to more balanced strategies that make greater use of digital platforms. In the process, our presence in the media landscape has expanded and we've seen larger turnouts for our public events and increased enrollment in our continuing education seminars."

The Home Shows:
Homeowners+Contractors=Success

For 30 years, The Home Shows has been putting homeowners and contractors together in a no-pressure, fact finding environment. As is the case with a few of our clients, our relationship with The Home Shows started well before Marketing Keys was even born. Prior to finding Marketing Keys, our President had been a media rep. for WLS-A in Chicago. For about a 10 year stretch, The Home Shows had been one of his clients at WLS-A. During Marketing Keys' first couple months of existence in 2007, our President, Roger Keys, had lunch at Maggiano's with then President John Neron from The Home Shows. Immediately after that lunch meeting, Marketing Keys began handling radio, tv and online for The Home Shows. The Home Shows produces Home Improvement Shows that are free and open to the public throughout Chicagoland. Some of the venues include the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles, the Darien Sportsplex and the Oak Lawn Pavillion. Most of the shows occur from February through April along with 1-2 shows in October. 2015 was a banner year for The Home Shows successfully reaching homeowners all over the Chicagoland area who found their dreams come true by meeting qualified and talented contractors to handle their home projects.

         Jerry's Hockey:                Skates gracefully online

#Holiday dreaming at our Crystal Lake Location. "Oh #Santa please, we have been good thisyear!" #NaughtyorNice #JerrysHockey

In large part to a referral from the Chicago Wolves, Marketing Keys built a solid relationship with Jerry's Hockey - a complete hockey retailer with (2) large warehouse locations and several in-rink stores around Chicagoland. As the Social media partner for Jerry's Hockey, Marketing Keys has had fun all season long managing Jerry's social media pages including Facebook and Twitter. We love creating engaging content to grab the attention and eye of Jerry's followers along with reaching a new customer base. This post above is one of our favorites this holiday season. As Jerry's had mentioned to us earlier in the year, "We have noticed a big difference in the engagement along with the quality of the content posted from when we were handling it in-house until your firm took over the responsibility." We could not be happier with this partnership.
