Basketball Provincials

Thank you to all individuals who helped us host a fantastic 1A Girls Basketball Provincial Tournament!  We had an outstanding Provincial Committee, tremendous support from our Clear Water staff, some outstanding Grade 7/8 Girls acting as tournament hosts, and some fabulous Grade 9 boys who handled scorekeeping.  Your efforts were all very much appreciated!

Our high school girls basketball team had the experience of a lifetime playing in the Provincial Gold Medal game on their own floor.  They lost 46-43 to the defending Champions and Number 1 ranked team from Stirling.  It was an outstanding effort and we are very proud of them!

Our high school boys team captured bronze in Glendon with at thrilling 80-78 win over Livingstone in the bronze match.

Two Provincial Basketball medals in the same high school season is an AMAZING accomplishment.  Congratulations coaches and athletes!

This concludes a very successful and fun Crusader Basketball season.  Our 6 teams competed in well over 100 games total.  Outstanding effort!

Living Our Faith

Virtue of the Month:

Charity

Saint of the Month:

Marie Bernarde "Bernadette" Soubirous born January 7, 1844 was the firstborn daughter of a miller from Lourdes, France, and is venerated as a Christian mystic and Saint in the Catholic Church.

Soubirous is best known for her participation in the Marian apparitions of a "small young lady" who asked for a chapel to be built at the nearby garbage dump of cave-grotto within Massabielle where apparitions are said to have occurred between February 11 and July 16, 1858. She would later receive recognition when the lady who appeared to her identified herself as the Immaculate Conception.

Saint Bernadette died on April 16, 1879 and on December 8, 1933, she was canonized by Pope Pius XI as a Saint of the Roman Catholic Church. Her Feast Day is observed on February 18.

At Clear Water Academy, Apostolic classes are introduced in Grade 7. Students focus on how to actively reach out and make a difference. Opportunities to mentor younger students develops a desire and responsibility to become a good role model. Visits to shelters, performing community services, providing for the needs of the poor, performing kind tasks for the elderly, and managing small fundraisers to support those in need, all help to build the habit of reaching out in service to others. Study of the Saints and participation in monthly virtue campaigns, helps to personalize each students growth in service and virtue.
