WARNING POSTER FOR FAITH GROUPS

The Interfaith Council has been asked to share a message (a warning poster) from the Central California Intelligence Center regarding a man being released from prison next week who is said to be wanting to target churches.

The CCIC is sponsored by the FBI and Homeland Security.

As soon as we have the CCIC poster, we will post it on the Upcoming Events page of the ICGS website.
DONATIONS TO FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER

I am so excited to be a part of the opening of the Sacramento Regional Family Justice Center - a place where victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, child and elder abuse will be able to receive services under one roof. We are seeking donations of a few items (since we are a nonprofit). We are in need of furniture i.e. 6 nice sitting chairs and 3 end tables, a nice sofa and or love seat, a couple of book shelves. We are also going to need diapers for children. If you are interested in donating please email me at WhitmoreF@hopethriveshere.org

Thank you so much!

Thursday, June 30 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CLERGY WORKSHOPS

Domestic violence is an ongoing epidemic in our culture and in our faith communities.  Religious leaders are often turned to by Victims of domestic violence as the first resource for understanding and help.  This is both good and bad news. On the one hand, it is good in the sense that victims intuitively feel they will be well received, believed and understood in turning to their clergy.   On the other hand, it is bad because most clergy are inadequately trained and qualified to respond in a helpful manner.  In fact they often unintentionally do more harm than good.   But that does not have to be the case.  Training is available.

A day long training event is being offered at one of four different locations around the greater Sacramento area.   Each event is from 9:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Lunch is included.   Choose your date and reserve your spot.  Please see our flyer for the goals of the training.  Please RSVP here.

June 30 - July 28 - August 25 - September 15th.
