International Campaign for Compassionate Cities | I am involved in establishing Sacramento as a participant in the International Campaign for Compassionate Cities. We have a community of supporters interested in driving this forward and we believe your organization's participation and support is key. This is the start of a conversation - a movement to be more kind in the way we operate as a community. This is not a political thing, not a nonprofit trying to raise money - a movement for compassion.
It is so easy for you become a partner by just signing up your company. Please reply and we'll add your organization name to the list of community partners, and notify you of the next meeting. Being a community partner will not add to your workload. The work you and your organization is doing now will be recognized as instrumental in building city with a bright vision for the future.
Background: The Charter for Compassion was founded by TED Prize winner Karen Armstrong in 2008. One of the charters initiatives is the International Campaign for Compassionate Cities which is a global campaign inspired by the Golden Rule (treat all others as you wish to be treated yourself) to raise awareness of the benefits of compassionate action. Its purpose is to encourage city leadership from around the world to create and bring together efforts towards increasing compassion through local initiatives, policy, and projects. Compassionate Cities current focus areas are compassionate action in city-wide innovation, social entrepreneurship, sustainability, community & civic engagement and governance. Compassionate cities was declared good public policy by the US Conference of Mayors. I'm confident when Mayor Kevin Johnson is approached he will be inspired to declare a Compassionate Sacramento. There are dozens of Compassionate Cities in California, it is time for the state capitol to become one too. I sit on the Compassionate California board of directors, which is pioneering the first State of Compassionate in the United States. I envision Mayor Kevin Johnson proposing the initiative to the Governor and sharing throughout the United States as the USCM President and national leader.
Be part of creating a more sustainable and compassionate region... state, nation, and world.
