MSB has received notification that some parents have recently seen MaineCare services submitted as claims on their private insurance Explanation of Benefits. These claims have all been denied, as they are services provided pursuant to a child's IEP. To help address any concerns that parents may have regarding MaineCare claims appearing on their EOB, we have updated our parental consent guidance to address this issue. MSB recommends providing this guidance along with the Consent to Release Information to help parents understand that the consent allows MaineCare to bill any other private insurance that covers the child. However, it is unlikely that the child's private health insurance will reimburse MaineCare for services provided pursuant to a child's IEP.
