We are pleased to present Craig Blessing, Managing Director and a member of BlackRock's Fixed Income Portfolio Management Group. The Fixed Income markets are center stage of investor thought as the confluence of fund flows to equity, fed policy, economic recovery and international macro concerns in both the emerging markets and Europe impact the overall direction of these securities. Craig is a client-facing member of the portfolio management team and represents BlackRock's products, investment process, and current strategy to Financial Professionals, clients and outside organizations.  Craig joined BlackRock in September 2006 subsequent to its merger with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM).  He joined MLIM in July 2002 and has over twenty years of experience in the financial markets on both the buy and sell side. 

 

Prior to MLIM Craig managed multi-sector and Emerging Market Bond portfolios at Chase Fleming Asset Management.  Before Chase, Craig was the Director of Fund Management at Serfin Securities and co-head of Emerging Market Fixed Income Sales and Trading at Bank of America.

 

Craig received an MBA and an MA in International Policy Studies from Stanford University.  He did his undergraduate work at the University of Kansas, where he received a BS in Business Administration and a BA in French. Craig is a CFA Charterholder.

We are pleased to present James Rowley, Senior Investment Analyst, Vanguard Investment Strategy Group.  His presentation will examine some of the most relevant aspects of Vanguard's fixed income research.  He'll share key considerations for effective strategic portfolio construction, such as investing ininternational and high yield bonds, frontier markets and TIPS.  You'll also learn the practical merits of implementing strategies using bond ETFs or mutual funds, as well as bond funds versus individual bonds.

 

James is a senior investment analyst in Vanguard's Investment Strategy Group, where he analyzes trends and developments in the ETF market and provides research and commentary on related issues. Previously, James led the ETF Analytics and Data teams at Vanguard. His teams were responsible for
 
conducting comprehensive product and portfolio analysis and managing the ETF Product Management Team's overall data-reporting capabilities. 

 

Before joining Vanguard, James worked at Gartmore Global Investments, Lehman Brothers, and Merrill Lynch. He earned a B.S. from Villanova University and an M.B.A. from New York University. He is a CFA� charterholder and is a past president of the CFA Society of Philadelphia.

We are excited to present this two person discussion on the outlook for the economy and specifically on automotive sales.  Ms. Kolinski Morris will present her economic outlook and focus on the impact on car production/sales.  Mr. Hoselton will present his sector thesis, including his underlying assumptions and conclude with stock recommendations.  This is a heavy hitter panel which should be interesting on many levels.

 

 Emily Kolinski Morris is a Senior Economist in the Systems Analytics and Environmental Sciences group at Ford Motor Company.  She provides the research team with input on economic issues, and conducts studies on topics affecting the auto industry such as pricing trends and consumer valuation of fuel efficiency.  Emily was previously Senior Economist for North America, where she was responsible for analyzing the business environment in the U.S. and other North and South American markets, including development of economic and automotive industry forecasts.

 

Prior to joining Ford in 1997, Emily spent four years as a fiscal analyst with the Michigan House of Representatives.  In this non-partisan position, she conducted analysis of state budget and revenue issues, focusing in particular on state regulatory, economic development and job training programs.  She provided council to House members on program funding and performance, testified regularly before the House Appropriations committee, and interacted with stakeholders at all levels of state government.


 

Emily received her Ph.D. in Economics in 2009, an M.A. in Economics in 1992, both from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. in Economics and International Studies from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 1990.  She is active in various professional organizations, and was most recently President of the Detroit Association for Business Economics.


 

 Brett D. Hoselton, CFA is a Managing Director, Equity Research Analyst with KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc. With the Company since 1999, his research coverage focuses on the automotive industry.

 

Hoselton previously worked as an emerging auto analyst with CIBC Oppenheimer and as an associate auto analyst with Prudential Securities. From 1991-1997, he was the general manager of Hoselton Chevrolet, a division of the Hoselton Auto Mall, which was founded in 1920 and included Chevrolet, Toyota, Nissan, Chrysler and Jeep franchises. From 1989-1991, he worked as a financial analyst for Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Mich. Prior to that, he participated in an engineering co-op program with General Motors.

 

Hoselton graduated from Geneva College in Pittsburgh, PA. with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana University.

 

Hoselton's work has received broad industry recognition. Most recently, he was ranked as the #3 stock picker in the Autos and Auto Parts sector by the Wall Street Journal's "Best on the Street" Analyst Survey, released in May 2010, representing his fourth WSJ award. The Financial Times/Starmine also ranked Hoselton as the #3 stock picker and #2 earnings estimator for his work in the Auto Components sector in 2009. In past years, Hoselton was recognized in Institutional Investor's "All-America Research Team" survey, and was named the #1 individual analyst in the automotive sector and the top-performing individual analyst overall by AQ Research. Hoselton is also a member of the Automotive Security Analysts Splinter Group.

We are pleased to present a Company update from Marathon Petroleum Company.  Marathon Petroleum Corporation (Marathon Petroleum) is a petroleum product refiners, transporters and marketers in the United States with a $23B market capitalization. The Company's refining, marketing and transportation operations are concentrated in the Midwest, Gulf Coast and Southeast regions of the United States. These include a six-plant refining network, a terminal and transportation system, and wholesale and retail marketing operations. This includes both the Marathon Brand and Marathon Petroleum's wholly owned retail marketing subsidiary, Speedway LLC and operated retail gasoline and convenience stores. As of December 31, 2012, the Company leased or owned approximately 1,944 leased and 27 owned railcars of various sizes and capacities for movement and storage of refined products.

Mr. Peiffer began his career with Marathon Oil Company in 1974 as an associate auditor in the Auditing Division. In 1977, he became supervisor of Employee Savings and Retirement Plans. In 1979, he became the controller of Speedway Petroleum Company and served in numerous other marketing and logistics positions such as manager of Planning and Analysis for Marketing Operations and Southeastern area manager within Marathon's Terminal and Transport Department. In 1986, he was made manager of the Marketing and Supply Accounting Department in R&M Accounting.

 

In 1987, Mr. Peiffer was appointed to the President's Commission on Executive Exchange. He served for a year in the Pentagon as special assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Production and Logistics. In 1988, Mr. Peiffer returned to Marathon Oil Company and was made the vice president of Finance and Administration for Emro Marketing Company. In 1992, he was named assistant controller, Refining, Marketing and Transportation for Marathon Oil Company. Mr. Peiffer was named senior vice president of Finance and Commercial Services at Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC* in 1998.  He was named to his current position on July 1, 2011.

 

Mr. Peiffer is a member of the Blanchard Valley Health System Board of Trustees and Audit Committee; the Blanchard Valley Port Authority Board; the Fifth Third Bank (Northwestern Ohio) Board of Directors; and the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation Board of Trustees and Finance & Investment Committee and also serves as treasurer.

We are pleased to present Jay Muthuswamy, who has been recognized both domestically and internationally for his work on various financial topics. We received terrific feedback from his presentation last year and so he's been invited back for a presentation this year. Professor Muthuswamy will review trading correlation, its effect on asset asset pricing and portfolio construction. His discussion will include aspects of various asset classes.


Dr. Muthuswamy delivered the keynote address at the annual prestigious Futures Industry Association Asia Derivatives Conference in Tokyo, Japan, on Friday, Sept. 19. The speech titled "What Drives Commodity Prices?," will take a no-holds-barred look at the commodity market gyrations of the recent past, as well as discuss the latest academic findings and academic literature.

The professor's research interests include the pricing of derivatives, asset price equilibrium, financial econometrics and high-frequency hedge fund trading strategies.

Muthuswamy, who earned his doctorate in finance from the University of Chicago and degrees from the London School of Economics, Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania, joined Kent State in 2007, after an extensive academic career including time at Singapore Management University, Duke University and the University of Sydney.
