Today's guests travel with so many gadgets and they all need charging - the pressure on you, the hotelier, to provide a multitude of power outlets is growing at an alarming rate.

Sounds odd but the most important thing about the power outlets you provide your guests is where they are.  A single outlet at desk height is better than 2 outlets on the skirting board under the desk.

So when looking at improving the power outlets you offer your guests, first consider where they are and then look at the various options that will work best - don't worry, if they are in the wrong place, you don't need to do a refurb to fix it!

Where and how many power outlets should you have?

- Four at 'desk height' in 'work area'

- Two at 'desk height' at each side of the bed.

Power outlets in the wrong place?

Add a 'power rail' that can be secured to the desk.

These can have power outlets, USB outlets and even have outlets sideways to maximise accessibility - the choice is yours.

Power in the right place but not enough?
Replace existing outlets with ones that have USB too.

What about some other options

There are many ways to address the power/charging needs of your guests and also staff.  We have "off the shelf" and very affordable custom made options so we are sure we can assist you and your guests.

Contour with power and USB

You can cost effectively retrofit power outlets at desk height with USB only or a combination of USB & Power and even data.

In fact I just quoted a property on a customised power rail with 6 power outlets and 6 USB ports - which they plan to use in conferencing to provide power to delegates.

Power outlets with additional USB Ports are not only great for guests, staff in admin areas will derive great benefit.  With more and more staff receiving job tasks and reporting back via handheld devices, charging has become quite a challenge in back of house areas. We recently supplied a couple of power rails with 20 USB ports in them to a hotel for just that purpose.

USB suits so many devices and it eliminates issues with international plugs too. International and domestic guests will be thrilled by all the charging options you provide them.

Tip of the Day

Make sure that your power outlets are well spaced.

These days many phone chargers have quite bulky transformers.  When we talk about space we mean side to side AND up and down - there is no point having power outlets flush at desk height as they are effectively useless for most transformers.
