ANNUAL ZION CHURCH PICNIC

Bring Your Favorite Dish To Share!!

One of our favorite annual church activities at Zion is our Fourth of July Picnic.  This year we will celebrate this annual tradition on Sunday!

Please bring your favorite covered dish or dessert. Meat and condiments will be provided.  We will congregate for food and fellowship immediately following our time of worship.

RANDOM SHOTS

Thomas and PP ready to "step off" at Columbus Pride!
Emily, Pastor Terry and Thomas with UCC Pride marching beside the UCC Justice Float.

Line Dancing!
Hundreds of Thousands of our close friends waiting to greet us as we approach Goodale Park!
From the Pastor's Desk

It is difficult to put into words just how good it felt to be marching with UCC Pride last Saturday during this year's Columbus Pride Parade.  Emily, Thomas and I were joined by nearly 200 persons who had come from other UCC congregations of the Central Southeast Association to walk beside the UCC Justice Float to show solidarity with the hundreds of thousands who lined the parade route.

We were treated to an extravagant welcome and extravagant hospitality by the crowds.  Jesus has told us that "whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me." Matthew 10:40.  Love and justice was in the air.

I never thought I looked particularly good in the color pink.  But I could not have been prouder to don our pink UCC Pride t-shirts on Saturday.  The meaning of the color pink is
unconditional love and nurturing.  The universal love represented by our pink garb relates to our communal march toward equal rights and justice for all persons.  Hearts were opening before our very eyes.  Five years ago who would have imagined corporations sponsoring floats in the the Columbus Pride Parade!  God is active in history and we have a front row seat to testify that God Is Still Speaking!

Sunday we will reflect upon the extravagant welcome which awaits all persons who accept and trust in the promise of God's Love and Grace.  We will also share in God's extravagant hospitality as we commune at our Annual Fourth of July Picnic and share God's abundant blessings with each other.  Can't wait to taste your favorite dish!

BOB IRVIN SELECTED AS CO-GRAND MARSHAL
JULY 4TH PARADE

The Delaware County Farm Bureau has selected Zion's own Bob Irvin to lead the annual Delaware 4th of July Parade this year as Co-Grand Marshal.  Bob was recently inducted into the Delaware County Agricultural Society Hall of Fame.

We can't wait to see Bob leading the parade!  A well deserved honor!

Come One, Come All to VBS at Zion!

Vacation Bible School (VBS) will be held this year at Zion from Monday July 14 through Thursday July 17. VBS will meet each day  from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.   We welcome children ages 4-12 who want to have fun!

Welcome to Everyone Fun Fair ~ Where God's World Comes Together!

Zion will be transformed into an exciting carnival where kids will experience the love of Jesus and meet welcoming neighbors from the Bible.

Help is needed to make this an AMUSING experience for our children!  How can YOU "Step Right Up" and help?

1.  Invite your children, grandchildren, neighbors!  (Registration forms are on the table under the bulletin board.)

2.  Volunteer to help at VBS!  Email Carrie Abahazi if you would like to help cabahazi@hotmail.com.

3.  Donate money to help in the purchase of items for crafts, games and snacks!  (Donations can be placed in the morning offering; please note VBS on your check or envelope.)
