LENTEN BIBLE STUDY
ON SUNDAY!!

Rev. Mr. Matthew Wilson is conducting a Bible study during our lenten season at Zion.  Thank you Matt!

The study is titled Prayers in the Bible, nourishing the hungry spirit and is adapted from The Thoughtful Christian curriculum.

The purpose of the study is to explore prayers of Thanksgiving, Praise, Intercession and Confession in the Bible and relate them to Zion's Lenten emphasis on hunger.

We will meet on the following Sundays during Lent; March 9, 16, 23, (30) and April 6 and 13. We will begin at 8:30 with a light breakfast and fellowship, then meet for class from 8:45-9:45.

All are invited.  Please contact Matthew Wilson if you will need child care or have any questions in regard to our time together.  740.369.3038

Purple Paraments

We have been so blessed to have had a real artist design and make our new paraments for the Lenten season.  Kit Tossman (daughter of Bob and Betsy Johnson) has presented to us a beautiful set of meaningful adornments for our sanctuary during this season.  The paraments are thematically based upon the beautiful scripture we find at John 15:5.  "I am the vine; you are the branches.  If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (NIV)

If you wish to make a modest donation to support the purchase of these paraments for Zion please see Pastor Pete.

SOUPS FOR SHELTER

Please consider supporting Delaware County Habitat for Humanity by participating in the 12th annual Soups for Shelter at St. Mary School Commons.

Tickety prices are $10 (soup meal only) and $15 (soup, bread, dessert, beverage and a handmade ceramic bowl).  Children under 12 eat free! Thursday March 20.  4:30 - 7:30 pm.

A JOYOUS CELEBRATION

Ode to Joy?  Yes.  Since its premiere in 1824, Beethoven's 9th Symphony has never truly left the spotlight.  Beethoven capped his last and greatest symphony with a grand chorale finale, a stirring setting of Schiller's original poem, "Ode to Joy."

Come out and enjoy this performance by the Central Ohio Symphony and OWU Choral Art Society in historic Gray Chapel on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.  Two performances; March 22 and March 23 at 3:00.

MEET OUR NEW CHURCH SECRETARY! ANGIE SEWARD

Our new church Secretary has been hired and she is already deeply engaged in preparing the church bulletin, returning phone calls, ordering the files, and catching up with any number of other details that have been set aside during the past month while we were without a church secretary.

Angie is an active member of North Congregational Church in Columbus where she is the superintendent of the children's education program; a program that has grown from 10 to 63 children during her watch.  She and Skylar live in Delaware.  Skylar is serving this year as our student in residence during his studies at the Methodist Theological School.

Don't hesitate to chat with Angie about her new duties and to wish her well in her new position when you see her at church on Sunday morning.
