MEET OUR NEW CHURCH SECRETARY! ANGIE SEWARD

Our new church Secretary has been hired and she is already deeply engaged in preparing the church bulletin, returning phone calls, ordering the files, and catching up with any number of other details that have been set aside during the past month while we were without a church secretary.

Angie is an active member of North Congregational Church in Columbus where she is the superintendent of the children's education program; a program that has grown from 10 to 63 children during her watch.  She and Skylar live in Delaware.  Skylar is serving this year as our student in residence during his studies at the Methodist Theological School.

Don't hesitate to chat with Angie about her new duties and to wish her well in her new position when you see her at church on Sunday morning.

DELAWARE ReStore NEEDS ASSISTANCE THIS SUNDAY

Delaware ReStore has an immediate need for a deconstruction event coming up this Sunday March 2nd at 6:30pm.

Lowe's has generously offered to donate all building materials from their Smart Home display at the Columbus Dispatch Home & Garden Show to our ReStore. We plan to meet at the Expo Center when the show closes at 6:30pm, Sunday March 2nd to deconstruct the home and load the materials onto our truck.

We are in need of up to 30 volunteers. The more workers we have, the sooner we will finish. Please bring power screwdrivers, crowbars, and hammers. We could also use 6-8 foot ladders. We will provide drinks and snacks!

These materials will bring great profits to our Delaware ReStore, which, in turn enables us to serve more families. Helping with this project also helps build the relationship between Lowe's and Habitat for Humanity.

Please call Linda (740.363.9950 Ext. 222) if you are able to help.  Thank you.

WELCOME OHIO WESLEYAN STUDENTS
TO ZION THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday we will pray for God's blessing upon students representing Ohio Wesleyan University who will travel to El Paso/Juarez on a mission trip during their spring break from studies.

Please be present to extend our extravagant Zion hospitality to Hazel Barrera, Jackson Hotaling, Emma Beale, Elizabeth Raphael,  Naa-Oye Bosompra, and Sophie Crispin who will be with us to worship on Sunday.

Working with the Christian-based Border Servant Corps' Immersion Program, this team will explore the tensions and dynamics, the cultures and opportunities, the brokenness and the beauty of life on both sides of the Texas/Mexico border. Unlike most of the other spring break mission teams, this team will have a much higher focus on education than direct service. The issues of borders and boundaries are complex enough that we must understand before we can help. As team members experience life in El Paso and meet with various organizations, they will come to see the ways in which our two worlds are really just one.

LENTEN BIBLE STUDY

Rev. Mr. Matthew Wilson will be conducting a Bible study during our lenten season at Zion.

The study is titled Prayers in the Bible, nourishing the hungry spirit and is adapted from The Thoughtful Christian curriculum.

The purpose of the study is to explore prayers of Thanksgiving, Praise, Intercession and Confession in the Bible and relate them to Zion's Lenten emphasis on hunger.

We will meet on the following Sundays during Lent; March 9, 16, 23, (30) and April 6 and 13. We will begin at 8:30 with a light breakfast and fellowship, then meet for class from 8:45-9:45.

All are invited.  Please contact Matthew Wilson if you will need child care or have any questions in regard to our time together.  740.369.3038

FAMILY PROMISE.  SUNDAY!

Zion will soon be filling a gap for Family Promise. We will be hosting Family Promise the week beginning on Sunday March 2.  Several area churches have shifted their mission priorities, leaving some "gaps" in coverage at Promise House.  As is often the case, Zion has been asked to step forward to fill the gap.  We didn't hesitate to say yes immediately!  Thank you for continuing to support this meaningful program and for supporting vulnerable families in this community.
