PRAYERS PLEASE

We are requesting prayers at this hour for Ann and Jerry Elliot.  Jerry will undergo a delicate procedure this morning at Riverside Hospital.

Healing God, graciously comfort your servant Jerry in his suffering, and bless the means made use of for his cure.  Fill his heart with confidence that, though he may be afraid, he yet may put his trust in you; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

(from the Book of Common Prayer)

May each of us be guided in our prayers for Jerry by these words of scripture.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.  For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.

MOBILE FOOD MARKET

Zion is home to soldiers in the war on hunger. Many thanks to Kellye, Nancy, Konrad, Marty and all who continue to work the Mobile Food Market on the first and third Mondays of each month.

Hundreds of families are served fresh produce. Here is a picture of Kellye and Marty preparing fresh oranges provided by the MidOhio Food Bank.

Thank you Highpoint Church for wonderful accommodations!

OUR ROOFWALKERS

These two pilgrims ventured out onto Zion's roof last Sunday after worship to see what was prompting the overflow of one of the building's gutters.

After chipping away a layer of ice they proceeded to the edge of the roof and discovered the problem; an ice dam in the gutter preventing adequate flow as the snow on the roof melted.

Having discovered the problem they both decided the solution will have to wait until the next thaw.  They each enjoyed the view!!

THANK YOU MOP

Well, the parking lot at Zion is no longer a dark and forboding place at night. Thank you MOP (Ministers of Property) and AEP for the installation of more powerful directed lighting upon all sections of the lot.

As we continue to experience more and more guests using our facilities during evening hours, the new lighting creates a much more inviting welcome to Zion. Particular thanks go to Bill Keesee for his continued diligence in this effort.

FAMILY PROMISE

Zion will soon be filling a gap for Family Promise. We will be hosting Family Promise the week beginning on Sunday March 2.  Several area churches have shifted their mission priorities, leaving some "gaps" in coverage at Promise House.  As is often the case, Zion has been asked to step forward to fill the gap.  We didn't hesitate to say yes immediately!  Thank you for continuing to support this meaningful program and for supporting vulnerable families in this community.

STYLE SHOW TOMORROW!

We hope you made your reservations!!  Willow Brook is presenting a buffet reception and eclectic, fun and offbeat Style Show.  Funky fashions and accessories will be featured as the Global Village Collection.  The event is Saturday, February 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the Summit Room of Willow Brook at Delaware Run.

The featured collection promises quirky clothing and home goods with a promise of freedom from exploitation of children, families and the environment.  The fee is $10, reservations are required, and the reservation deadline is February 1.  Reservations may be made by calling 740.201.5687.

No sales will be made at the event.  This is just for fun and to benefit Delaware's nonprofit fair trade store!  Please plan to attend!

BELL RINGER OPENINGS

Please let Brian know if you have an interest in joining Zion's Handbell Choir.  There are currently several openings in this august body.

As you know, this is an important part of our ministry at Zion and we always welcome the opportunity to make a joyful noise unto the Lord!

The Zion Handbell Choir provides important worship offerings to share with the congregation and, as you know, the choir is an active participant in the annual Delaware Community Bell Concert held each year at historic Gray Chapel on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.
