WE DID IT!!

When this year began we set an ambitious goal for ourselves.  We said we could challenge ourselves to donate 1,000 pounds of food and taxable items to People In Need (PIN) to support their important ministries within this community.

As this year winds to a close, we see that not only did we exceed our goal.  We have done so with one more month of collections.  At the end of November we had donated 1,053 pounds to PIN.  This easily exceeds our highest total in a prior year (820 pounds in 2011).

Thank you to everyone who continues to fill the WOW Wagon and make our support of PIN a realistic ministry goal to accomplish each year.  Let's keep it up!

HANGING OF THE GREENS

Thank you to all (pictured to the left) who joined together after our worship service last Sunday to Hang the Greens and decorate our sanctuary at Zion.  The sanctuary looks great in its seasonal finery!

Prior to our work we took nourishment with our annual Potluck.  All dishes were great. Pastor Pete had a particular affection for Gail's turkey/stuffing rollups!

SILENT SANCTUARY

It is so difficult to slow down.  Yet, we are called upon to "Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10 NIV).

Skylar is giving us just that opportunity by opening up the sanctuary from 7:00 - 9:00 each Friday evening beginning on December 13.  Come and seek sanctuary from the hectic lives we lead in a troubled world.

Using audio, visual and tactile encounters you may find new ways to encounter God in Silent Sanctuary.  Come and explore the desert and mountain spirituality of solitude.

Please let Skylar know if you have any special requests that may assist you in your journey to Silent Sanctuary.

Adopt A Family

Please again, this year, consider supporting PIN's Holiday Clearing House by contributing donations or gifts to our adopted Christmas family.  We have adopted, this year, a family of five including three children ages 7, 3 and 1.  We are seeking your support for the purchase of NEW age appropriate toys and clothing.

We will also be supplying a two (2) day supply of food/gift cards.  Festive items may be included to make our family's holiday celebration special.  All packages must be clearly marked with #750.  All gifts must be NEW.  Please no used items of any kind.  Please contact Beth or Pastor Pete if you have any questions. Watch for the sign up poster in the sanctuary-coming soon!. All items must be delivered to Beth's office no later than December 8.

DELAWARE COMMUNITY CHORUS

They just keep getting better and better and better.  This year's program promises to satisfy your deepest yearnings for beautiful musical renditions of some of your favorite seasonal pieces (and some new special treats as well).  "Awe and Wonder" will be presented at St. Peter's Episcopal Church on Sunday, December 22  There will be two shows; 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm.  As you know, the concert sells out quickly so see Alice Hagelgans, John or Antoinette Miller in regard to tickets.  See you there!

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

Not only are we charged with keeping the "Light" on at Zion, we also need to keep the "lights" on; we need to pay our bills.  Each year the congregation is charged with the responsibility of reviewing the budgetary challenges facing the church and approving Zion's upcoming annual budget. This year our meeting is scheduled for December 15 after worship.  There are no major fiscal issues at this time and, accordingly, Council is preparing a "continuation level" budget so the meeting should be brief.  A copy of the proposed budget will be available on the website and in the sanctuary by Sunday December 8 for your review.
