Stewardship Sunday

Las Sunday was Stewardship Sunday.  This week you have prayerfully considered what Zion means to you and what you are able and willing to pledge to support God's work in this community through Zion in the upcoming year.

We hope and pray you have been moved in miraculous ways by your connection to this faith community and have discerned that, at the end of day, there are resources available in your life to lift up Zion in significant ways.

If you received a pledge card last week, please place the completed card in the offering plate in the near future.  If you haven't received a pledge card, please let one of the ushers or greeters know and they will make sure you have one.  Thank you for all you do for Zion!

Apostles Build III

Our work continues and, as you can see, Apostles Build III is rapidly approaching completion. This Habitat project significantly partners Zion with area churches and will result in a home for the Kathy Crawford family.

On November 16 Mike will lead a prayerful devotion for the workers on that Saturday.  Melissa, Mike and Pastor Pete (and hopefully others, hint! hint!) will be preparing sustenance for the workers in an afternoon meal. Will you join us?

Arsenic and Old Lace Now Showing at Zion

You won't want to miss this one!  Our own Sue Grotty and John Miller featured in this classic directed by Zion's Greg Patterson.

The production will be presented in Zion's sanctuary on November 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 7:30 and November 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 2:00.  All seats are $10.

For tickets call 740.362.0571 or check out online purchase options at the Arena Fair Theatre website.

See you there!

Adopt A Family

Please again, this year, consider supporting PIN's Holiday Clearing House by contributing donations or gifts for our adopted Christmas family.  We have adopted, this year, a family of five including three children ages 7, 3 and 1.  We are seeking your support for the purchase of NEW age appropriate toys and clothing.  You may wish to supply a gift certificate in lieu of purchasing clothing. We will also be supplying a two (2) day supply of food/gift cards.  Festive items may be included to make our family's holiday celebration special.  All packages must be clearly marked with #750.  All gifts must be NEW, no used items of any kind.  Please contact Beth or Pastor Pete if you have any questions.

Time To Order Poinsettias!

With the outburst of fall color, we witness one of the surest signs of the change between seasons.  Another color will soon be radiantly apparent within the sanctuary at Zion.  Honor a loved one.  Honor God's church.  Place a poinsettia just because you enjoy sharing this special seasonal treat with others!  Let's really go all out this year! Order forms will be available within the sanctuary and they must be completed and returned by December 1.  They are $8 each.

Do You Have These?

I know you recognize the special place in this picture.  It is Promise House. There is a lot of loving and sharing going on at Promise House where families, temporarily without housing, find a warm place of support.

This is more than a house.  It is a home.  A member of Zion has reached out to these families by providing books, board games, puzzles and other forms of entertainment.  What a great idea!  As cold weather looms, the kids will be spending much more time inside.  There were nineteen children (19) at Promise House during the last week Zion was the host church

Can you help?  If you have any new or slightly used entertainment items of this type and they no longer have any use in your home, would you consider donating them?  We are reserving a place on the table against the rear wall of the sanctuary to store items for this purpose.  Please see Phyllis Brewer if you have any questions in this regard.  Please help if you can.

What to Do?

No doubt you have noticed something different about our church grounds.  Yes, we have said goodbye to our former parsonage and garage. They served us well. What now to do with that space?

We welcome your suggestions.  A Memorial Garden? More parking? Green space?  Now that our beautiful church is properly exposed, how might we feature the building with additional signage and lighting?

We know you will have great ideas.  We will be engaging in a congregational conversation on the use of this space.  Please join us!
