Summer Picnic Scheduled
It is our tradition at Zion each year to gather for a potluck picnic after worship on a Sunday during the summer. This year's summer picnic date will be June 30.
Please bring your favorite covered dish to share with your neighbors. We'll provide the hotdogs right off of the grill. Beverages will also be provided.
Jesus would often gather his disciples for table fellowship
and we are called to be in community in a like manner.
Come, let's build some more Zion memories!!

Computer Lab Now Open!
For those of you who want to send an email to a friend or family member but don't have the equipment at home to do so, we have good news for you. Maybe you just want to "surf" the internet.
Zion's computer lab is now fully functional and open for business. Thank you Mike Newcomb for helping to set up the lab!! Thank you also to Hannah Peterson for donating the computer.
Please see Mike or Pastor Pete if you have any questions about using the computer. We will assist with any of your computing needs. In addition to access to the internet, there is a full suite of office automation software to do letters or spreadsheets.

Apostle Build III
It is difficult to identify any community mission project which is as impactful on the lives of individuals as Habitat for Humanity.
That is why, at Zion, we are pleased to announce that we will be active partners in Apostle Build III. We will be in partnership with other area churches and our partner family as we work to build another needed Habitat dwelling in the Delaware community.
Handy with a hammer? We need your skills. Have a few extra dollars to share? Perhaps you would consider sharing your resources with Habitat on this project.
Please see one of our Ministers of Mission (MOM - Nancy Townley, Mike Newcomb, Konrad Young or Donna Jarrell) if you would like more information on the project. We can't wait to get started!!!

Treasurer Needed After serving faithfully as our Treasurer, Chuck Townley has decided to "hang up the checkbook". Chuck has informed Church Council that his tenure as Church Treasurer will end on December 31 of this year.
Do you have gifts in this area? Would you be willing to serve and write checks to pay the obligations of the church? Chuck will train anyone who is interested in the position. It would, therefore, be a benefit to fill this position well in advance of the end of year when Chuck finishes up his duties.
If you have a possible interest in this position please see any member of Church Council (Beth, Donna, Nikol, Bill, Bob, Chad or Jason) or Pastor Pete. This is an unpaid position. Thank you, in advance, for your thoughtful consideration of helping your church in this meaningful way. |
Vacation Bible School
Dare to go deep with God!!
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is just around the corner! VBS is coming to Zion the week of July 15 (15 - 18). Each afternoon of that week (1:30 - 4:30) children will gather for time together to explore the depths of God's Sea of Love and Compassion. Dare to go deep with God! Appropriately, this year's theme is
Operation Overboard.Last year's VBS was a huge success (see picture below). Let's make this year's time together even bigger and better. Please invite any children you feel would be excited about spending time with other children in a time of fun and exploration. They do not need to be a member of Zion to participate!
Registration forms are available at Zion. Please return completed forms to Carrie (or you may place them in her box in the Secretary's office).
Juice boxes, water bottles and snacks are needed for VBS. Please help in this way if you are able by making a donation. Please see Carrie if you are able to donate any of these items or if you wish to make a monetary donation. Once again, we will be collecting items for SHARE as our VBS Mission Project. What a wonderful project!! A box will be located in the back of the sanctuary for these items. What a wonderful way to help our children understand the call to help our neighbors; especially those with particular and extensive needs.

Family Promise Dedication
Please plan to be on hand for the much anticipated dedication of the Family Promise home on June 19. The home is located on the southwest corner of North Washington Street and East Winter Street, two blocks from Zion Church.
As you know, Zion has been deeply connected to the mission of Family Promise from the inception of this program in Delaware. We are excited as this new chapter in the life of Family Promise and the lives of those the program serves, begins.
It all starts @ 6:00 with dedication lasting approximately 30 minutes. A tour of the home and refreshments will follow until 8:00.
See you there!!

Well Done Good and Faithful Servants!
May's donations puts us right on schedule for a banner and record year of collections for People in Need (PIN). As you know we have challenged ourselves to collect at least 1,000 pounds of food and other necessities in the WOW wagon this year. May's collection brings our total to 425 pounds for the year. June will represent the midway point of our challenge. Can we make it? Of course we can!
Please, let's not stop now. The need is real and the need is substantial within this community.
Please keep up the good work! Let's have an even bigger month in June! We can do it! A list which details the particular food and other items most in need is on the bulletin board at the rear of the sanctuary. In May, People in Need (PIN) served 917
families from the pantry. PIN was able to assist in filling 56 prescriptions and with PIN's assistance
54 persons were able to avoid eviction! |
