We were joined at Zion this week by members of the Department for Church and Authorized Ministry (DCAM) of the Central Southeast Ohio Association of the Ohio Conference of the United Church of Christ. They were meeting at Zion to conduct the important business of the Association (of which we are a member).
Pastor Pete, Matt Fields & Carrie Abahazi enjoyed the opportunity, during a lunch break, to share many of the good things happening at Zion.
Thank you to our friends of DCAM for their free will donation to support our Adopt-A-Family efforts!

From the Pastor's Desk

Trip to Nicaragua June 12-22, 2013 "The only thing we build are relationships." Do you want to participate in an exciting opportunity to engage Christian brothers and sisters in an other country? Yes? The Central Southeast Association has a partnership with Iglesia Mision Cristiana of Nicaragua. We read in our Covenant Agreement that "we are invited by God to discover what the Body of Christ looks like from God's view of the whole human family, particularly as that family is found in Nicaragua and Ohio." Last year, four members of Zion traveled on what we believe was Zion's first international mission trip. In 2013, at least two members from Zion will be traveling again on this Partnership Pilgrimage. Plan to join them! This is "new mission". The only thing we build are relationships. We grow in the understanding that we are the supporting ligaments of the Body of Christ, connecting and holding the parts of the body together. (Ephesians 4:16). A group of folks representing the Central Southeast Ohio Association of the Ohio Conference of the United Church of Christ will travel to Nicaragua June 12-22, 2013. We will worship with our partner churches, visit their mission outreach projects, and explore the natural beauty and historical significance of their land. The cost of the trip is estimated to be $1500. (Travel costs vary.) Please consider this opportunity to be engaged in international mission! Now is the time to start planning. Past trip participants (Mike and Sarah Newcomb; Pastor Pete and Emily Peterson) are available to share with you details about the trip and the partnership. Together, we journey!! In Christ, Pastor Pete |

Opportunities at Zion!
Church Secretary As you know, Carrie will be stepping down as Zion's Church Secretary on January 1st and will begin substitute teaching. The church council is in the process of searching for her replacement and may split the position into two (or more) separate positions. This would allow someone with minimal computer skills to serve Zion. This is still a work in progress and we welcome creative ideas to allow for a smooth transition. Anyone interested in the Church Secretary position should contact Matt Fields. matthewfields_1976@yahoo.com Church Council As you know, Matt Fields has served as Council President for over three years and will be stepping down as of January 1st. The terms of two long serving members of council will also be coming to an end in January, leaving additional vacancies to fill on council. It is imperative that Zion have a strong and diverse council. Please consider serving in this important capacity! Please also consider recommending others who you think would serve well in this role, as we are seeking nominations. If you would like to nominate someone, please email Matt Fields. Thank you! matthewfields_1976@yahoo.com |
