We love wine and we live in wine-country...so Brent and I decided to make a short branding demoreel for his wine-clients. Brent Winebrenner, DP/photographer, has shot beautiful footage for various winemakers. On our demo-reel I contributed the motion graphics and direction. With a small timeline and budget I customized some nifty AfterEffects templates as well as my own animations. We shot the beautiful models Wesly and Chanté in my studio, Brent did the helicopter footage for his wine-projects beforehand. Here is the result: quick, down and dirty... et voila!
It's fun to come up with something very fast. Also it is the first time I used templates. It is interesting to see how other animators set up their projects. That is almost like peeking into somebody's mind. Everybody has a different way to get to the result. I love the action scripting. To create my very own animation style like for example ice-melting time-lapses takes so much time and you have to watch these ice-cubes all day... the effort is not always needed for real life projects. So, whatever works!

The next creative night at Viva Design will be on February 20th and I will host the evening. It will be about Kinetic and Sequential Type animation. If you like to participate, please let me know, there is only a limited numbers of chairs. If you have never been to these nights: they are fun, a way to be creative, to try something new, to dare...

This year I support an organization, that helps motivated girls and families in Ethiopia. My friend Saba is now in Ethiopia and needs clothes for babies, toddlers and kids up to age 12. If you have new or lightly used clothes, please contact me. We will send a couple of duffel bags to her location in Mekkele with a friend on february 7th. Thanks.

Vivakids is part of Viva Design studios, a lab and think tank where designers, artists and kids work together in multiple ways to express creativity. We stimulate divergent thinking by using one topic at a time (for example the Alphabet) and generate many different ideas about the topic.
