Learn more about one of our most faithful PWN leaders in this interview with Laurie!
  • Let's start with something that we may not know about you.
I'm a diehard, 49er Faithful and have been since I was in high school (OK, since the 80's). My husband, kids and pets have all learned to deal with my enthusiastic "go baby" cheering, play calling and penalty calling.  I even made a yellow penalty flag that I throw during games! Friends also know not to call me during 49er games.
  •  What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be many different things at many different stages of my life. When I was in 6th grade, I was elected president of our Micro-Community, a society our social studies teacher created to teach us about government and community. After that experience, I saw how I could make a change in outcomes through decision-making and decided I wanted to be POTUS - President of the United States! Glad I grew out of that one!
  • What do you hope to accomplish on the PWN Board during 2016?
To keep our membership well informed on upcoming PWN meetings and events, to notify the media of our events and to attract potential new members.
  • What is name of your business?
pageonedesign
  • Tell us about your business.
pageonedesign is a full service graphic design business founded 25 years ago. My experience is in both print and electronic media. I have a B.S. in graphic design from SJSU and attend seminars/classes to stay up-to-date on theory and skills used in my profession. I love working with clients to take their ideas on logos, business cards, brochures, postcards, advertisements and more from concept to reality. The design process is exciting and constantly changing. I love that!
  • What is the most important thing that you have learned in order to be a successful businesswoman?
To listen rather than talk, be persistent but not pushy and don't give up when the going gets tough.
  • Anything else that you want to say?

I love the friends and connections I have made through my networking with PWN. The experience and support I have received from this incredible group of women has been invaluable to my business and my soul.

As successful business owners, leaders, and professionals, we recognize that people need more than just good pay and benefits to thrive at work. We realize that WORK FIT is crucial in order to be our best ~ and to achieve our professional goals and dreams. However, research shows that only 30 percent of American workers strongly agree they have a chance to do what they're best at.

Are YOU truly thriving? Come join us for athought-provoking discussion with hands-on exercises to help you match your strengths and needs to your business' culture-even if in your business you are the Top (and only) Banana!

In this evening's program, you can expect:

  • To learn the six essential elements of fit
  • Some creative reflection and fun to better understand your work needs
  • To begin plotting a course toward (even) MORE joy and connection at work

(Do you hire employees? Especially in small companies, every new-hire makes a huge difference in creating a vital, engaged culture. These tools will assist you to have useful hiring-conversations with potential employees too!)

A bit about our speaker, Cammie Dunaway ~

Throughout her career as a sales and marketing executive for companies such as Frito Lay, Yahoo!, and Nintendo, Cammie Dunaway has earned a stellar reputation as a brand-builder with an impressive list of corporate and start-up successes.

And then along the way, something happened: she began listening to her heart. Two successful years into a prestigious position as Senior VP of Sales and Marketing of a major entertainment company, Cammie realized that while this job appeared to be the culmination of all she'd accomplished in her career, it was not truly a good soul-fit. She walked away while at the top of her game.

Hoping to share what she'd learned the hard way, she and her executive coach co-wrote the book, "Fit Matters". In it they address practical, hands-on ways to explore, as she writes, "what could happen for all of us, and for the world, if more people actually LOVED their jobs?"

In addition to putting her reflections and practical tools into this book (publication: May, 2017), Cammie currently serves on the board of directors for 3 public companies, including Red Robin and Nordstrom FSB. She's been featured and quoted in publications such as The New Yorker, USA Today, and Forbes, and is a frequent speaker at organizations such as Stanford, Levis, General Mills, and LinkedIn. Her MBA is from Harvard Business School.

We're delighted to have Cammie join us this evening, and are hoping you'll be there too!

Informal networking begins at 5:30pm
with the program starting promptly at 6pm.
