Presidents Message

Hello everyone and welcome to Summer! Things are really popping with PWN!

1.  June 1st we launched a new, up-to-date, user-friendly website for a fraction of the cost of our outdated website. Check out the pictures of members, update your profile and check the directory for member services you won't want to miss.
2.  June 7th 10 PWN volunteers raised $800 for PWN through Team Up For Democracy. It was a fun day and members got to bond with one another in a different setting.

3.  We broke the ice at our June Ease Networking meeting. Attendees made new connections and deepened existing relationships.  Denise Kaku and Sharon Rhodes McQueen earned rave reviews for their new take on networking.

4. Doris Beckman, Donna Brandt, Nancy Jarvi, and Myra Martinez represented themselves and PWN very well June 9th as they graduated from Leadership Monterey Peninsula. We are lucky to have to members who care so much about the community in which we live.

Several PWN members attended the LMP graduation to cheer on and support our graduates demonstrating just how much PWN members mean to one another.  Friendships like these are just one of many valuable outcomes of PWN membership.

5.  In addition to our new LPM graduates, Past President (2010), Denise Kaku received the Founder's Award from LMP.

6.  We had a record number of new people at our networking lunch June 16th, providing lots of new connections for everyone.

On the surface, we are businesswomen and men; together we are leaders making an impact on our community through our businesses. What kind of impact do you want to make? Let us know how PWN can support you in your efforts.

Don't miss the July Joint Mixer with our sister organization, Salinas Valley Women's Business Network.  Join us on Wednesday, July 13
th at 201 Main Street in Salinas to meet, mix and broaden your circle of influence. See you there!

With much appreciation,

Julie

Get Off the Couch and Succeed
(or, why sweating is good for your business)

I created my new business during my weekend hikes. I don't remember exactly when the idea sprouted but the seeds of my inspiration were inspired by nature.
Getting away from the technology-based environment of my video production business (www.ArmstrongProductions.com) and out into the wilderness sent me into a new and exciting direction doing what I love - video production AND fitness.

So, how can sweat help your business? Studies confirm that exercise is beneficial for thinking and cognition. Being outside in nature has a synergistic effect not only on your body, but on your brain's ability to think creatively. Going for a brisk walk  (just enough to get you out of breath but not so strenuous that you have to think about gasping for air) will get your creative juices flowing!

My new business, www.OfftheCouchFitness.Club will launch July. It's an online fitness club for women over 40 who want to get up and Off the Couch and into a healthier lifestyle. I've gathered together experts in the fields of fitness, nutrition, and motivation to help you reach your health and fitness goals.

Please visit my website and sign up for more information when we launch. You can also join our active Facebook Group and get inspired by the motivating conversations!
Off the Couch Fitness Challenge Group
https://www.facebook.com/groups/591524767618586/

Now, get up and Off the Couch and go get sweaty - it's good for your body and it's good for your business!

Coffee Talk

Please join Laurie Bend, PWN Communications Chair, for a cup of coffee or tea and chat on any topic you want on Thursday, July 21st at 1:00 p.m. at Peet's Coffee in Monterey, 560 Munras. Have questions about networking? Do you want to brainstorm about business success strategies? Curious about fun activities on the peninsula? Any and all topics welcomed; PWN related or not!

We continue offering the opportunity for PWN members to be the hosts of our monthly "Coffee Talk." All you need to do is share an hour of your time as host, network and chat in a small, personal setting. It's fun!

Email Laurie Bend, pageonedesign, for details.

"Coffee Talks" are scheduled on the 4th Thursday of each month between 1:00 and 2:00pm. Please drop by (and bring a friend!) if you have some time!
