Board Member Highlight
Mary Jeanne Vincent - Vice-President
I am the Vice President and Julie Ahearn's wingman. My job is to do what needs to be done - whether that is to review and suggest revisions to the bylaws - this year we implemented a Board Conflict of Interest policy, work on revisions for the new website which will be unveiled June 1st, or lead the Woman of the Year selection committee.
When I was in high school I wanted to be a therapist and later considered becoming an attorney or politician. After college I worked at Sak's Fifth Avenue in downtown San Francisco and went back to school at night for a Masters degree in Human Resource Management. Before starting my own private coaching practice I managed career centers in Silicon Valley.
As a career coach I am privileged to work with individuals who want to bring their best to their jobs and careers. I especially enjoy helping my clients discover and appreciate their strengths and learn to express them in person, in print and online. I find myself called to teach women (and men) to negotiate their worth. I especially want to give women the tools they need to create a financially secure future.
One of the most challenging lessons I have learned from being in business is the importance of networking and building solid relationships.
Fun facts - I am the eleventh of twelve children, collect 1940's, 50's and 60's hankies and compete in agility trials with my dogs Sweet Pea and Violet.

Upcoming
May Monthly Meeting
June 1st, 2016
5:30-7:30pm
Ease-Networking:
Speed-Networking at a Slower, Softer Pace
Ready to experience some gently-guided networking? Then you'll want to be sure to join us this evening for a program we're calling Ease-Networking! This is the same fun meet-and-greet concept as Speed-Networking, yet without the frenetic pace ~ and with a chance to go a bit deeper. Come find your flow as you connect with both familiar and new professional friends in a fresh, unique, and interactive process. You'll want to add this to your calendar now to experience quality conversations, and expand your circle of PWN referral sources, professional peers, and sister-advocates!
A bit about our facilitators:
When she needed to make a lifestyle change, Sharon McQueen joined Silpada Design and took her love of fashion and fun to create a business that celebrates individual style and empowers women to design their best life.Tonight, however, we benefit from her former life: Sharon has an extensive background in training and organizational development, and has held staff and consulting positions in high tech, the public and private sector, and non-profits. It's our good fortune she's sharing with us her many talents ~ past and present!
Denise Kaku is a seasoned leadership coach & organization development consultant with expertise in a wholistic approach to assist clients in all facets of an organization's effectiveness. A gifted facilitator, she has designed and delivered public workshops on topics such as communication, goal-setting, and managing change. Earlier on she was a successful CPA and IRS agent, and now Denise brings her passion to her role as a savvy and inspiring coach & consultant in assisting clients to bring their goals to life.
This evening's program is a great example of generous collaboration among two wonderful PWN members. We're very fortunate to have these skilled, passionate, and committed professionals bringing their design and facilitation talents to guide us this evening in networking-with-EASE. Expect to make many fun new connections, and come be part of the play!

Welcome to PWN and Networking at it's finest. We are building momentum in PWN in 2016.
We successfully ended our official Membership drive with a great Aloha Mixer. Thank you Myra Martinez; you did a fabulous job! We attracted lots of new faces and welcomed back several that we hadn't seen in awhile. Thanks to members and local vendors nearly 20 lucky attendees won door prizes. The energy in the room was incredible; we made great connections, and had tons of fun learning to hula.
PWN is participating in a couple of community events in the next month. On May 19th, we participated in the first Women's Expo hosted by the Monterey Herald. Our energy-driven volunteers were at booth 34...hope you saw them. We also have a full slate of volunteers for Team up for Democracy on June 7th. Thanks to our dedicated members we will add $800 to PWN coffers.
I am happy to announce that on June 1st we will be launching a new website. Our goal is to create an inviting, easy-to-use website that showcases our members and highlights the benefits of belonging to the Peninsula's premier businesswomen's network.
This month's program features a new take on Speed Networking - Ease Networking: Speed Networking at a Slower, Softer Pace. What does that mean? Come to Monterey Tides on Wednesday, June 1 and discover for yourself.
With much appreciation,
Julie Ahearn
