Board Member Highlight

Rebecca Perry - Program Chair

It's a true honor to be part of Julie's leadership team this year, and I'm enjoying getting a behind-the-scenes look at all that goes into creating a vibrant PWN.

My hope as Programs Chair is that each month you can count on receiving food-for-thought from an inspiring speaker who focuses us on some useful nugget of professional-development. My ultimate goal? To give us all more ways to get to know each other, to share success tips and lessons-learned, and to support each other in creating lives even richer in meaning, happiness, abundance, and fun.

As a kid at different times I dreamt about being a cultural anthropologist, a crime detective, and an interior designer. I just now realized that what I do for a living is a combination of all 3 of these!  My business is helping leaders understand their team culture, and how to shape the culture to achieve success (anthropologist)...helping people figure out what's true and what they're making up about themselves and each other (detective)...and helping people shift their stories to be more empowering (interior design).

The official name for what I do? I'm a leadership and team performance coach. I assist leaders and teams to have those crucial conversations that can make a huge difference in making work really work.

I really lucked out in finding my calling early on. I was a business and psych major in college, and started my career with Hewlett-Packard as a manager of training & development in HR. After a decade of real-world experience, I left corporate life and earned a Master's degree in Applied Behavioral Science-focusing on leaders and human systems. I love picking up tools to help people be their best: I'm a certified mediator, "ropes course" team-building facilitator, dialogue facilitator, Myers-Briggs specialist -- just lots of cool ways to help people use our differences as a source of innovation and sparkle.

In 2009 I earned my coaching credentials and am grateful to have even more ways now to help leaders show up with more clarity and positive impact.

The most important thing I've learned about being a business woman? I recently celebrated my 25th  business anniversary (woo hoo!) and I think my business thrives because my clients know I'm passionate about their thriving-- and that I deeply honor the sacred role of being a trusted advisor.

Fun fact? I could show you a scar from the fangs of a 6-foot boa constrictor I encountered in the Amazon jungle as a wild and crazy teenager. Thank goodness he was more scared than hungry!

You can contact Rebecca at:

QUIZ TIME!

How closely have you read your PWN Newsbrief? If you can correctly answer the question below, your name will be put into a drawing for $10 in PWN Bucks. That's just like $10 in cash to spend with any PWN Member!

Here is this month's question:

How many years has our Highlighted Board Member been in business?

Send your response to

All correct answers will be entered in the drawing at the March meeting.
You must be present to win!

Upcoming
April Monthly Meeting

April 6th, 2016
5:30-7:30pm

Please note change of venue ***

PWN Welcomes
Guest Speaker:

George Kao

Topic:

Authentic Marketing
Growing Your Tribe of
Kindred Spirits

Ready for some nuts and bolts business-marketing tips? Tonight's your night! Many of us feel inundated by marketing strategies that often feel disingenuous at best, and manipulative at worst. The approach taught by many business and marketing "gurus" on the circuit now is pushy, brash, and slick - and not at all how we wish to represent ourselves. Who wants to be salesy if that's what it takes? So, the good news? Marketing and sales can be MUCH different: heart-based, authentic, and quietly, magnetically powerful. In this evening's session, we'll clarify what is authentic and honorable -- and effective -- marketing, so that we can truly enjoy and be proud of how we're sharing our message and growing our business.

Come be part of this highly-interactive program!

* You'll learn the major areas of an authentic marketing system, including CONTENT (Building Your Tribe) and ENROLLMENT (Gaining New Clients Authentically).
* You'll start developing (or improving) an ongoing marketing plan that aligns with your energy.

About our speaker, George Kao:

George Kao has earned the role of trusted marketing advisor to thousands of small business owners.  His mission is to raise the marketing effectiveness of people who value integrity, service, and sustainability.  In his first year as a trainer and coach, he exceeded $10,000/month in revenues, and by the third year, George's email list had grown to more than 10,000 subscribers and annual revenue was $350,000. In the midst of this financial abundance George experienced a spiritual breakthrough, and he made the radical decision to give away all his content for FREE -- more than 150 training videos, articles, and templates.  George now makes his living primarily through serving clients on a 1 to 1 basis-- helping them create their true livelihood. For many wisdom-based "solopreneurs", George Kao is their go-to advisor on topics of heart-based marketing, and how to create a business that is truly ethical and deeply fulfilling.

George has an MBA in Sustainable Business, and lives with his wife, a playful dog, and 2 cool cats in San Francisco. You can find more about his other favorite topics-- Joyful Productivity, and Healthy Money-- and all his give-away videos, tools, and templates at www.georgekao.com

We're so fortunate to have this ultra-generous, warm-hearted, and savvy marketing wizard join us for this evening of sharing some of his hottest biz development tips you can take away and use. Come meet George, ask your questions, get ideas for your biz, hang out with your supportive PWN tribe, and be part of the evening's fun!

Peggy's Home Care
Sadie Kvenild

Have you ever walked into the home of an aging parent, friend or neighbor and noticed the house was not as orderly and neat as usual? The refrigerator was not full and replenished with fresh food? Or maybe your parent, friend or neighbor has been to the hospital more then once in a short period of time? Maybe they are not changing their clothes or bathing on a regular basis? Or you just may be concerned for their well-being.

These problems can occur for a number of reasons associated with the aging process. There may be some "Mild Cognitive Impairment" associated with Alzheimer's and /or Dementia. There could be some loneliness or a form of depression. Maybe they are experiencing more pain than usual, or they could be taking their medications incorrectly.

If some of this or any of these symptoms sounds familiar, it may be time for the loved one to have some help in the home.  We, at Peggy's Home Care, go to the homes of people that may or may not be experiencing some of these issues. We do a non-invasive meet and greet and get to know the person, ask them some questions, look around the home and see what their needs are.  At this time, we introduce our services and discuss potential care goals. If they are interested, we do a full health and home safety assessment at a second appointment. Both of these consultations are free.  Based of the assessment, we build a customized and comprehensive plan of care.

A caregiver is closely matched to their needs and personality.  The caregiver provides assistance with daily living activities, cleans up the house, replenishes the refrigerator and takes them on walks and outings to get them engaged in the community. We can follow up with doctor visits and help bring them back into a state of enjoying their daily lives and living in their own home safely.

The care coordinator facilitates and provides community resources that match the persons needs. We oversee the care of the loved one and ensure a quality control system that delivers the services as promised.

Please visit us at www.peggyshomecare.com
 and call Sadie at 831-659-5887
to inquire further about our specialized programs.

Presidents Message

Hello Everyone,

What is one of the best aspects of PWN? Member testimonials!

Testimonials are all about gratitude. I love hearing members share the many ways in which they benefit from the richness of our network.

During the March networking lunch so many people wanted to share their positive experiences with members that it was difficult to stop!

Each person who stood up to share a testimonial could think of several people to recognize. As the lunch drew to an end people just started pointing and saying names. Everyone left on a high note.

During future meetings I encourage you to look for opportunities to share your positive experiences using member services with other members and guests. Notice how good it feels to give and receive an endorsement from your colleagues. Tap into this wellspring of goodwill; you will be thrilled with where it takes you. See you April 6th for another fabulous meeting.

With much appreciation,
Julie

P.S. May 4th is our Membership Appreciation Spring Mixer, which is the culmination of our Membership Drive.  Now is a great time to introduce other business professionals to the many benefits of PWN membership. Share the wealth!
