LIVE EVENT TIP
| |
TIP: Larger scale events need a 'showrunner', but often the event manager tries to take on the responsibility of coordinating all the production aspects of a live event. Not always the best choice. Event Managers will often be tied up with VIPs and other issues. Consider hiring a showrunner who knows how to run the 'show' part of your event. At AXE Productions, Kelly Kimo and Michael Kryton often fill this role. They are the ones you see with the head sets delivering cues to video directors, senior audio and lighting techs as well as wranglers and stage hands.

The Ten Tenors dazzled at the Winspear in February. It was one of
the fastest set-ups for AXE Productions and the Winspear team
owing to a rehearsal also scheduled that day for the Edmonton
Symphony Orchestra. Even with the short set-up window, the show
came off without a hitch. (Photo by LIMAGES)
