Decorate a Recessed Window
A recessed window is sometimes overlooked as a place to emphasize the theme of the room and its style. It also offers a location for a creative focal point in a room with no other architectural interest, and it can add storage to the room's function. Walls Paint the inner wall a darker version of the wall color drawing attention to the window and the view beyond. Or choose an accent color from the design scheme to frame the scene of the outside world and purposefully create an attention-getting focal point. Window Treatments Hang draperies on the surrounding wall, creating the illusion of a grander, larger window. Draw attention to the window with a shaped valance constructed of fabric in the room's accent color. Tie the draperies back with tassel tiebacks for a classic look or with metal holdbacks that mimic the drapery rod finials. Or install a roman shade inside the boxed bay to draw attention to the window. Collection Display Use the sill as a shelf for displaying theme-enhancing items. For example, a collection of formal vases would be appropriate in a classic-styled room. Or install glass shelves inside the recess to accommodate a collection of plants or glassware. Allow the growing plants full access to the window space, creating a mini-greenhouse. Filling the shelves with glassware will also fill the room with rainbows when light passes through the facets of the glassware. Window Seat Having a cushion made for the window seat creates additional seating or reading space. Make the window seat area with a hinged top and you can create extra storage space.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have foam? Can you replace my cushions in my sofa?
- Yes, we can cut foam to any size and any thickness. So if the cushions in your sofa have lost their shape we can cut new foam to fit your cushion exactly. We ask that you bring the cushions in so we can measure exactly, then you can take them back home to use until the new cushions arrive. It only take a day to put the new cushions in your seat covers.
- We can replace back cushions too.
|
Did You Know..
- We upholster furniture and can make cushions for your window seat area. We can make the foam 2" thick for looks or 3" or 4" thick for more comfort. If you have us make some coordinating throw pillows, it would be great place to curl up and read.
|
Monthly Tips
- Rotate your cushions so that they get equal wear - from side to side and/or from top to bottom.
