Add Functional Pull-Out Shelves
Want your kitchen to be extra functional and feel luxurious at the same time? Add pull-out shelves, trays, baskets and bins, and start really loving your kitchen!
Adding pull-out shelves - also known as roll-out shelves, roll-out trays, gliding or sliding shelves - to your kitchen cabinets will not only make it easier to gain access to your things, but it will add more storage room and keep things more organized. Instead of having to bend down and reach into a standard cabinet to pull out something stuck in the very back, you can simply roll out a shelf and grab whatever you need.
There are many styles of pull-out shelves. Standard gliding shelves can hold pots, canned goods, or cleaning supplies. Sliding wire or mesh baskets are deeper and will hold miscellaneous kitchen items like plastic bags or cleaning supplies. Pull-out tray bins with custom dividers help organize small appliances, cutting boards, and other odd-shaped items.
A pull-out bin for the trash container is another good use of gliders. With careful planning you can install the pull-out trash bin where you do most of your kitchen work food preparation, making it easier to dispose of garbage.
To organize paper or store files, a pull-out shelf or bin can also be installed in the part of the kitchen where you make phone calls, pay bills, and schedule appointments.
Before adding pull-out shelves to your cabinets, list your needs. Which shelves in your current space are hard for you to reach? What supplies and tools do you use every day or every week, and where do you use them? Plan to store frequently used items near where they are used. Things that are less frequently used still need to be accessible, but they can be put in harder to reach shelves.
Use space efficiently and keep things within reach with pull-out shelves.
