Deck Your Home for the Holidays
Christmas is coming as it does every year. What a wonderful chance to deck your home - get a fresh look for a short time. We all have the usual holiday decorations that we use every year, but if we would just change or add one or two things each year it would give us a fresh look.
Here are some ideas you could consider adding this year.
If you don't have a fireplace you could arrange some greenery and Christmas balls on a side table. This picture shows the typical red, green and gold balls mixed together. But it could be equally stunning to have only silver balls. Note different sized balls were used for greater interest.
Here is a home with a fireplace, but no mantel. So the Christmas stockings were hung from the ceiling on a decorative cord. What a great way to showcase your decorative stockings.
Instead of garland running down the stair railing, here is a different idea for the stairs. Attach the evergreen and berry arrangements to the spindles on every other step. This is a great visual that attracts your eye to an architectural feature in your home.
Here is a distinctive center piece. You don't even need Christmas dishes because the white dishes you use every day are suddenly updated with all the red in the centerpiece. Blooming red flowers, decorative red balls in different sizes and shapes, and different heights in the arrangement all create this stunning center piece.
Have fun wrapping empty square boxes then hang them on the wall. Be creative making them all different, but coordinated. The colors selected in this photo could make a year around art piece for year around art piece for your wall and not just a holiday decoration.
This picture says it all. Colorful holiday decorations in colorful goblets, champagne flutes, and martini glasses. Arrange them on table tops or mantels. Stunning!
Make your tree grand by decorating it with just one color and all white lights. Here they have used gold to decorate this tree. Gold ornaments, gold ribbons, gold netting all on a white tree skirt. The tree can be wonderfully tall since the room has high ceilings. And an oversized bow adds to the character of the tree. It doesn't mean you can't use those old favorite decorations from the past, but maybe on a tree in another room or arranged on a book self instead.
Enjoy decorating this holiday season. It is a wonderful tradition that contributes to the festive feeling we all enjoy. Good times with family and friends.
