The Moline Public Library will be closed on November 11 in observance of Veteran's Day and November 27 and 28 for Thanksgiving.

Red, White and Brave" Veterans Day Program
The public is invited to honor and thank the men and women who serve and have served in the United States Armed Forces at a Veterans Day program on Monday, November 10th at 11:00 am. The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 299 Honor Guard will proudly raise the flag outside the library as students from the Moline High School Concert Choir sing the national anthem. The tribute to veterans will then move inside the library, where the nation's colors will be presented and keynote speaker, Vietnam veteran and United States retired Army Captain, William Albracht, will talk about the history and significance of Veterans Day.  Our program will conclude with a choir performance of patriotic songs.
Friends of the Library Playcrafters Benefit
The Friends of the Moline Public Library will usher in the coming Christmas season with a fundraiser play "Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus," that will be presented at the Playcrafters Barn Theater, 4950 35th avenue, Moline on Saturday, November 15. Curtain will be at 3pm. Ticket prices will be $10 for adults, $5 for seniors 65 years and up, and $5 for children twelve years old and younger. Tickets will be available at the library's circulation desk starting the week of October 27th. Tickets will also be sold November 10th through November 14th from 11 am to 6 pm in the library lobby as well as at the door before the play.

Raffle and silent auction items can be viewed during November 10th through November 14th in the library lobby. Over twenty items will be displayed and will include hotel stays, gift certificates, art objects, hand-made items, and baskets of tea and chocolate treats. Raffle tickets and silent auction bids can be purchased at the library before the play and also at the Barn Theater through intermission time on Saturday, November 15th. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

All money raised will fund programs and other needs of the Moline Public Library.
Lego Robotics!
The Moline Public Library kicks off "Project Next Generation: Dream, Design, Deliver" with a Lego Robotics Workshop series. Teens and Tweens in grades 5 and up will learn how to assemble and program motorized LEGO robots using LEGO Mindstorm kits. Sessions will take place on Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on November 6, 13, and 20 and December 4, 11, and 18. Attendance at all six sessions is recommended. No experience is necessary, but space is limited and registration is required. Bus passes will be available to registered participants.

E-Book Training
The Moline Public Library is offering one-on-one sessions to assist with learning to use the library's free collection of Overdrive e-books and e-audiobooks; Zinio e-magazines, and Fregal's music and movie downloads. Device specific training is offered free of charge.  Patrons with a valid RiverShare library card can access all or most of these collections. Schedule your appointment for a training session with a librarian by stopping at the Reference Desk, calling 309-524-2470 or by emailing reference@molinelibrary.org 
Genesis Health System Affordable Care Act Navigators
Genesis Health Care Navigators are scheduled to assist patrons every Tuesday at the library from November 18, 2014 through February 12, 2015 in the library's Gold Room.  These are first come first serve sessions. For more information, please call 309-524-2470.

Monday, November 3 - 6:30 PM.  Brilliant Companions. The Brilliant Companions, a Doctor Who fan club, will meet to discuss our season seven of the Classic Doctor Who,  featuring Jon Pertwee. Tuesday, November 4 - 4:00 PM.  Bookkworms Tween Book Club. Read and discuss books at this kid lead book club.  A limited number of books are available for check-out at the children's information desk.  For 3rd-5th graders.
