Child Friendly Search Engine - Kiddle
Kiddle

Kiddle is a custom search powered by Google Search that uses the company's cookies to serve search results that provides filtered web content for kids!

Kiddle will work in a similar manner as Google but its search results will be largely filtered. Sites appearing in Kiddle search reKiddle2sults will comply with family friendly requirements, as sites with explicit or deceptive content will be filtered.

The search engine uses Google colours, and instead of the traditional white background it has adopted an outer space theme featuring a robot.

The search engine features big thumbnails with search results and large font for kids readability. The company said it will not collect any personally identifiable data, and logs are deleted every 24 hours.

So check it out and let us know how it works for you and your family.

Re-purpose Program Donation to Kidstart
Kidstart
My Tech Guys are so very proud to be able to donate this re-purposed laptop to a smiling youth from the Kidstart Program here in the Comox Valley.

As a green conscious company we try to keep as many electronics from the land fill as possible.

We started a program a few years back to take your unwanted computer equipment to clean up and fix for a usable donatable system for local non profit organizations. Thanks to our customers for donating systems that still have life left in them as it makes the program possible.

Do you have stuff cluttering your place?  Contact Us to see if we can find it a new home.
Welcome Lucas to the Team

Come down to the Courtenay store to check out our unique company vehicle.

We are launching a Facebook Poll to "Name That Car" so click here to "Like" our page and give us your suggestions.

We have a contest to see how may likes and shares we can get by April 4th.  Winner gets an Apple TV.
Updates, Don't Forget

Most of us are familiar with the little pop-ups we get asking us to install updates.  While they only take a few minutes to complete, many of us are guilty of postponing them or just ignoring them completely. But keeping up with these computer updates is actually very important when it comes to having a
healthy and secure computer. These updates are just as important as having an anti-virus program. Sometimes the
automagic updates can fail so we suggest checking to make sure you have the latest versions of the following once a month.

Some of the most common updates are:
  • Windows or Apple OS updates
  • Java (Update to the latest (Version 8.66
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (Version 2015.009.20069)
  • Adobe Flash Player (Version 19.0.0.245)
  • Microsoft Office
  • Simply Accounting / Quickbooks
  • iTunes
If you have any questions or feel its been awhile since you've done any updates, call us and book an in-home service call or remote service call 250-890-1065
Until Next Time...

Check out our Facebook page for deals, tips and tricks.

Thanks for taking the time to check out our newsletter.  Always feel free to call, pop by our Comox or Courtenay stores, or send us a message if you have any questions or need help.
