MTG has RFID sleeves

That's a lot of Acronyms so - you may ask, what's RFID?

Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology allows a chip on your credit/debit card to wirelessly communicate with a payment device at the supermarket, petrol station, My Tech Guys etc, and make a payment without you having to enter a PIN.

The point of this technology is supposed to be twofold: on the one hand it's supposed to fix security problems with cards that rely on a signature  RFID is also meant to make paying for smallish items more convenient for consumers - just wave the card in the air and hey presto, all done. This ease of scanning is also a small problem...

The issue is that it is possible to have someone bump into you and read that chip signal right through your wallet or purse, then the thieves can clone the card and take your card out on the town (with limits of $100 per tap-to-pay of course). Although this type of high tech theft may not be popular in the valley yet, we recommend getting the MTG RFID sleeves for free today in either of our two stores!

For over 6 years My Tech Guys has been taking computers with life still left in them and re-purposing them for non-profits like YANA.  CompuCycle in Cumberland used to do this but when Encorp took over the idea of fixing up old computers was not in their plans and the program ended.

On average a computer that is less than 5 years old may still have some life left in it and be fast enough to run the latest operating systems and software.  "Often it is a failing hard drive that sends the old system to the rubbish bin when the rest of it is still working fine, but the cost of repair is too high.  By donating our time to fix it, it is a win-win-win.  Customers feel great, it stays out of the landfill and the non-profits get a system to use." says My Tech Guys owner Bob Wells.
