2015 Christmas Parade Highlights
|
Wow, what another amazing Christmas Parade for the Comox Valley.
This year saw the geeks bring the holiday cheer with a Charlie Brown theme. The sun was shining and the weather was perfect for a great community event.
No prizes this year (which makes a first) but although we didn't get the recognition of the judges, our friendly geeks fed off the energy of our MTG fans and had a great time.
Thanks to Bob's wife, Michelle Wells, for making all the costumes and the whole MTG team for making it a great day

Keeping the Community Warm
We like giving at MTG and with the recent vote for a tax to help house the homeless this cold December, there are some other great initiatives in the community we would like to draw attention to:
EDAS - Everyone deserves a smile This band of heroes is taking donations of women's and men's, gloves and toques to distribute this christmas. Drop off locations are as follows:Ecole Puntledge Park Elementary, Queneesh Elementary, Brooklyn Elementary, Robb Road, Royston Elementary, G.P Vanier Secondary, Mark Isfeld, Huband Elementary, Cumberland Community School, Zocalos Cafe, RE/MAX, Comox Community Centre, The Lewis Centre and Seeds Food Market.
Dawn to Dawn - Raising the Roof At both of the My Tech Guys stores you will find Toques and Socks for sale by donation to help find long term solutions to Canada's homeless. Don't need a toque? You could always go for the double whammy by buying the toques and taking them right for donation to the above! That would give us a smile :)
Comox Valley Toque Project Toques don't grow on trees, but around the Comox Valley you will see touques in bags hanging from them available to anyone who needs them! Two Courtenay women picked up the idea online and have been getting others involved and knitting up a storm ever since. You will notice the hats are in areas where the homeless of people at risk congregate. The project is looking for more wool and volunteers to keep the community warm this Christmas season.
