Thanks for the Great year!!!!

2013 has been a great year.   Our staff and families would like to thank all our customers who have supported us so much over the past 7 years to help us be the best that we can.  Your patience throughout our growth has been amazing and we couldn't have done it without you.

In 2013 we welcomed Brian (B2) Bailey and Joel (I Presume) Livingston to the My Tech Guys Team.

Some of the highlights from 2013:

And thanks to our amazing staff that go above and beyond on a daily basis.  Thanks to the guys at Shaw who make me look good by providing the best Internet connection around - and in the craziest places possible.  And to my wife Michelle, who bakes goodies for our weekly staff meeting and looks after our summer BBQ and Christmas Party - You are truly amazing!!!!

Seasons Greetings and Happy New Year from Bob and the Geeks!

App of the Month

magicsanta Many of us own a smartphone or a tablet device which always us to explore hundreds of thousands of Apps that you can find in the App Store or Google Play...

We thought it would be fun to show you this amazingly fun Christmas app called MAGIC SANTA.  This free app allows you to take a pic of your kids, grandkids or even you and put it into a video that you will never forget.  It even lets you choose what Santa has to say about whether they were Naughty or Nice, things they did well and things they nee to work on for next year (like being nicer to their siblings).  Don't have a Smart Phone? You can head over Magic Santa" on your computer and do the same.   Site says it will be up in time for Christmas.  We have been using it for years so hope it is ready to go soon.

There is also Google Santa Tracker, that lets you see where Santa is, and allows you to have Santa call your house (or someone else) to wish them a merry Christmas.  Our kids went crazy for this is it was very easy to do.  Head over to http://www.google.ca/santatracker/ to see where he is and have him give you a call!

And Fake Call from Santa and Magic Call from Santa can make the phone ring as if it is from Santa

This year was extra special as Bob was asked to give the Keynote address that starts the conference.

Updates, Don't Forget

Windows 8 Service Pack 1 is now out, that is the biggest update to Windows 8 since its release a year ago.  We'll have more on this next month but you can read up on it here

Most of us are familiar with the little pop-ups we get asking us to install updates.  While they only take a few minutes to complete, many of us are guilty of postponing them or just ignoring them completely. But keeping up with these computer updates is actually very important when it comes to having a healthy and secure computer. These updates are just as important as having an anti-virus program. Sometimes the auto-magic updates can fail so we suggest checking to make sure you have the latest versions of the following once a month.

Some of the most common updates are:

Have a Smart Phone or Tablet?  Don't forget to update your iOS or Android (and Apps) software to keep up with security updates and new features.

If you have any questions or feel its been awhile since you've done any updates, call us and book a in-home service call or remote service call 250-890-1065
