On March 9th Bob Wells, owner of My Tech Guys, was honored by winning the Vancouver Island Top 20 Under 40 Award.  Although this was the first year of the awards, it was the 3rd such award Bob has won in the past 12 months giving him a Tri-Fecta Under 40 Top business leaders in BC, the Comox Valley and now Vancouver Island.

Bob was recognized for his outstanding business success for My Tech Guys as well as his career prior to starting the company.  The awards also single out people that are community minded and volunteer in a significant way.

YANA Auction Raised over $58,000

YANA had an amazing evening on March 8th and was able to raise over $58,000 to go towards their programs to help local families who need to travel to access medical treatment for their children.  My Tech Guys provides technical assistance with videos and projectors, as well as audio and music for the event.  Credit card purchases are processed by My Tech Guys as well.

Twins Megan and Connor Wells also raised money at their 6th birthday party on March 10,  collecting $100 from guests in lieu of presents.  Megan had spent her first 4 months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Victoria and YANA supported Bob and Michelle with their weekly trips between Victoria and Courtenay so they could spend time with both children.  Megan and Connor are doing great now and enjoying kindergarten, riding their bikes and skiing.

Just a reminder that April 20th will be the Kids Clutter Sale that helps support YANA at the Courtenay Legion.  For more info click here.

MTG Live Stream our Local Candidates Provincial Debate
My Tech Guys are excited to announce that we will be Live Streaming our local  provincial candidates debate on April 30th.  Our hope is that by streaming the debate more people will be able to engage in the electoral process.  Once the debate is completed we will be hosting an archived copy on our website so that it can be watched by anyone at their convenience.

We encourage anyone that can to come to the Filberg Centre on April 30th at  7pm where the Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the All Candidates Forum as part of its commitment to the community.  We thank Shaw Business for all their continued support providing the Internet Access for these events so that we can stream them to you.  And finally thanks to Prestige Video Transfer for providing cameras and videographers so we have video to stream.

App of the Month  - BC Lions

bclions Well, we're two months away from another exciting CFL season, and I thought it would be good to share this app with you. Now, I am more of a Saskatchewan Rough Riders fan (and so I have their app), but I figured they would be similar.

I was actually pretty impressed with this app and all the cool extra features. The biggest thing though that I was looking for was a section to listen to the games (as I don't have cable so I can't watch the games) and I couldn't find a radio option in this app.

Updates, Don't Forget

Most of us are familiar with the little pop-ups we get asking us to install updates.  While they only take a few minutes to complete, many of us are guilty of postponing them or just ignoring them completely. But keeping up with these computer updates is actually very important when it comes to having a healthy and secure computer. These updates are just as important as having an anti-virus program. Sometimes the automagic updates can fail so we suggest checking to make sure you have the latest versions of the following once a month.

Some of the most common updates are:
