10,000th Customer
My Tech Guys is ecstatic to announce our 10,000th customer!!!

Willa Fussey was amazed when she heard that she was our 10,000th customer.  "I better go out and get a lottery ticket today" she said joking.  "I never win anything like this.  I'm not even sure what I won."   What she won was a ASUS Nexus 7, a 7" touch screen tablet running the latest Android OS.

Managing Your Digital Death
digitaldeath Before the Internet, managing our worldly stuff was pretty easy after we kicked the bucket - photos, home movies, phone numbers, correspondence, little black books and everything else solely existed in physical format. A quick dig through a closet or shoebox was enough to reveal the mundane and the scandalous, and life - er, I mean death - was pretty easy for the newly departed.

Microsoft Security Essentials
MSEIn this day and age of social networking, online banking and the daily use of computers, sadly viruses and malware is a daily frustration.

It's very important to have a strong antivirus program on your computer. There are hundreds of antivirus software out there, subscription based and free ones.

And over the last 6 years, My Tech Guys have recommend over 5 different antivirus programs from AVG free, Spyware Doctor and just recently VIPRE. 2013Google Maps is back for the iPhone and iDevices...

Now many of you may have an Android device and this isn't relative to you, but last year when Apple released the iPhone 5 and the new iOS 6 update they dropped the famous Google Maps app and tried launching their own version.

Now this has had a lot of media attention due to its faults, but now with the re-release of

Google Maps through the app store we have it back.

Google has spent years mapping our planet with the famous Google cars and the use of satellite technology. And the ease of these app is in my mind, flawless.

This app has multiple views to use, like street or satellite. You can have the app save your home address and work one to allow for quick and easy directional mapping.

If you have any apps that you can't live without, share them with us to include in our newsletter.

Updates, Don't Forget

Most of us are familiar with the little pop-ups we get asking us to install updates.  While they only take a few minutes to complete, many of us are guilty of postponing them or just ignoring them completely. But keeping up with these computer updates is actually very important when it comes to having a healthy and secure computer. These updates are just as important as having an anti-virus program.

Some of the most common updates are:

  • Windows or Apple OS updates
  • Java (Update to the latest Version 7.13
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (Version 11)
  • Adobe Flash Player
  • Microsoft Office
  • Simply Accounting / Quickbooks
  • iTunes
