Thought of the Week

As many of you know, last week Sarah, Neil and I had the chance to visit Sarah's parents in Mississippi to celebrate her birthday.  This week, with Thanksgiving on the horizon my parents have come to visit us here in New York.  This means that our son has had the chance to spend almost two whole weeks with his grandparents!  To see him become completely enamored with all four grandparents has been amazing, and his excitement has become evident as he has been waking up earlier and earlier every morning calling their names.  I believe that when we are young we have a fuller sense of what it means to be around family.  I can remember as a child hardly being able to wait until my grandparents arrived for Christmas.  It is a blessing to be reminded of the wonder that was attached to my relationships as a child.  As adults, wonder doesn't come as naturally.  But it is nearly impossible to give thanks without some level of wonder.  Thankfulness and wonder are intimately related.  As we approach the day of giving thanks this Thursday I invite you to find something that brings you wonder and allow that moment to be related to all the blessings of this life.

See you in church,

Fr. Josh
