To Members of the EBRPSS Family:
The 2011-2012 school year is at an end, and it marks another year of continued growth in our district. This achievement is attributed to the hard work of our employees at every level - from the administrators and teachers who work with students in the classroom, to the bus drivers who deliver our children safely to school, to the cafeteria workers who provide nutritional meals so children are ready to learn, and so many others.
The evidence of our district's success could not have been more evident than in the test score results released by the state last week. On the spring 2012 LEAP, GEE, and iLEAP test results, the school system showed continued growth for students reaching the "basic" level with an increase of 3 percent over last year. The East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) ranks among the top 16 districts in the state for one-year student achievement growth, and among the top 13 for growth between 2008 and 2012. We are encouraged by this growth, particularly at the fourth and eighth grade levels.
We want to thank our students, parents, teachers, administrators, mentors, and volunteers for working together to improve academic achievement. We know there are still challenges facing the district in the future, but continued improvement in student learning indicates how hard everyone is working on behalf of the community's No. 1 asset - its youth. Your support and hard work are to be commended.
With diligence and a positive attitude, the district will continue its successful journey. Thank you for your outstanding efforts on behalf of the EBRPSS and the students we serve.
Sincerely,
Barbara Freiberg
